basically there is a bit sticking out on the side of the block which is right next to the pully, its facing the front of car. i did this the other day and it took a few attemps to get it lined up cos as the belt is put on the cam pulley it tends to be a tooth out lol.

The first notch is 10deg BTDC, the second is 5deg BTDC.

Stand at the front of the bay.
Yeh, before top dead centre.

A lot of people think the marks show TDC, but they dont, they are ignition timing marks.

Set the pistons all level(about 50deg before tdc)
Then turn the cam sprocket to align its mark.
Then turn the the crank pulley clockwise to its mark.

Then put the belt on.

Then turn it over a few times by hand make sure its ok.
