not to sound horrible, it's good to see you have an interest in something other than causing trouble, but at 14, you have 3 years of the car sitting on your drive not doing anything. you wont have the money to work on hte car as you can't get a job. it doesn't seem logical...

your best off saving up your money and buying a car in similar condition when your 16 and tinker away then.

**** *** chimp have faith how have me and XXx-nova-xxx and greg1.4 managed it we are all 14 and have novas, greg has had about 6,we all manage it have faith my dear freind, even if you only get 50p a week he could manage

chimp007_uk
15-02-07, 10:55 PM
why have six novas when he can't even drive one?

flashbang

vaughanmc
15-02-07, 11:09 PM
i took the nova because when your from the wee town of cumnock you hardly ever see one

so a local car forsale was the ideal opportunity to take that one since it was clean.

will be getting put in the garage soon once the other car (winter storage) is out.

good for u fella having a car to play with, im 17, driving but can afford my insurance lol, so for now im in a ka, i got a 1.4 merit in my garage, battery is flat on it tho which sucks, jus try and keep the car running much as poss mate, get your mum or dad to insure it so they can drive it once a week to keep it all tip top, i left mine in my garage for ages, forgot about the alarm immobliser which drains the battery, now its dead, so jus keep it running

vaughanmc
15-02-07, 11:38 PM
yeah the radio has been wired wrong and it stayed on for hours one day -- but it started 1st time -- so i rescued the moment

all the parts needed are going to be priced tomorrow :)

vaughanmc

The novas that i own just now will not be going anywhere! I can put a huge bet on with someone that the cars i have just now will be with me for a good while anyway. I have just had my "road car" all seam welded and re-built the engine for it. It will be getting finished and stored away in a big garage i have until i am aged to drive.

as you all will know vauxhall red...is well...pretty poor and this one is no exception
so i started taking the badges off today and realised how much the paint has faded, its not all bad though hopefully a good old T-Cutting will bring the paint back
1st time taking the badges off on a car and i think i done quite well (the spin decal will be off soon but not 2 sure about how 2 go about it..)

From last weekend the CV Boots have been done along with the Steering Rack Boot.

And from this weekend the Brake Cylinders have been put on along with some Brake Flexi Hoses and then all the rest of the Brake Pipes fitted.

With sitting about for a week in all the pissy weather I decided to give it a wee clean:

i think you are doing ok mate but not sure if you will keep that same car for 3 years until your old enough to drive, i passed my test about 2 months go and was 17 about 3 months ago, until then i have had about 8 cars and most of them i have said i am going to keep for my first car but they all ended up scrapped or sold to a mate,, prove me wrong though, if you do keep it until you are old enough it will be a fine example after all the work you have spent on it, as long as you keep the rust away!!

vaughanmc
17-03-07, 06:47 PM
i've wanted a Nova from when i was about 2 or 3 years old, so i don't think selling mines would ever happen...the rust will be sorted out during the summer when the good weathers comes back...

starkmotorsport
27-03-07, 05:55 PM
Looks good Vaughan, subtle.

Being 14 you can enter production car autotests, so this is the route I would take. Build the car to suit the production regulations and get out competing. If the car remains road legal, your dad can drive it to events with spare tyres in the back.

You'll be a much better driver than all your mates come 17...!

If you need any help, email me.

vaughanmc
27-03-07, 05:57 PM
cheers, but i don't think i would auto-test that one

mabye if another one comes up i would but no that one :) means too much to me to see it being hammered round a set of cones...

Vaughan

vaughanmc
27-03-07, 06:11 PM
The 195/45's are on now

I'd say that they have brought it down by about 1.5" - but there is a gap between the tyre and arch that someone could fit there head between

These pics are quite bad, because it shows the extent of the arches but its nothing thats eating away at the car and should be fixed soon..

If its built correctly an autotest wont damage your car. The only thing that gets damaged is the tyres and the gearbox, which are cheap enough. Much better than a show and shine car!

i autotested my nova for a year and half. By the time i went to sell it the driveshafts were about to fall out it, the tracking and steering was way out, the underneath got really rough and battered. the exhaust was ripped off numerous times, I would not suggest autotesting your car inless its just on tar.

Wee Update:

The place i got my wheels said i could have 195/45/15's for a swap for the other 15" tyres that were too big...

So we went up today, and i spotted head-rests in a corsa - so i was for them

We also got 2 Alloys the same - to use as spares, there both mint and one with an Opel Centre Cap :)

Then we went into Halfords for a Rotar Arm, got home and fitted the lot and the Nova now runs/sounds as sweer as a nut

And Lastly, we picked up the new centre section for the exhaust (which will be fitted soon)

Dave, the headrests are slid down behind the seats - leaning on the parcel shelf

But if your fitting them to other interior you'l can feel the wee holes where they should go -- all u do is cut a wee X then slot in the inserts then in the head-rests go :)

nice, how much polish is on that thing? can you give me the name of it? it looks brilliant

also, what did you have yo produse to get the plates made? logbook? or reciept for the car?

vaughanmc
06-04-07, 06:11 PM
Polish is 'Colour Magic' from when we had the old red nova (5 years ago)

The number plates were made by a friends dad who owns a garage, no idea how much they cost....yet..

Vaughan

vaughanmc
06-04-07, 06:12 PM
oh, and why do u ask how much polish is on it...?

Adam
06-04-07, 06:13 PM
Much did the plates cost to have made?
Edit-Posted too slow,Lol.

Dave-To get legit plates you need to produce the cars logbook, and apparently the makers company/post code must appear on the plates somewhere.....

vaughanmc
06-04-07, 06:13 PM
don't know i'd need to ask my friends dad -- top job though :)

Adam
06-04-07, 06:22 PM
I think you need the logbook and your driving license.

So it sounds like your out of luck.

You can get some made off the net for about ?20 a pair tho, without any id etc,Lol. And you can have anything put on them under the reg number(i.e. Novaload.net)

vaughanmc
06-04-07, 06:24 PM
they do transform the car -- very cheaply

Dave.
06-04-07, 06:32 PM
