Wee update from the last time

Me and my dad fitted some dials from a Calibra to make the inside look a bit brighter lol

All we need now is an oil-pressure switch to make the other dial work:

Nice...

Not keen on how the screws sticks out makes it look untidy.

vaughanmc
06-06-07, 07:50 PM
Yeah that was for quickness to see how it would look

From the drivers position you can't see them..

NovaLad
06-06-07, 07:54 PM
get a marker and colour them black or get some caps for the top of them .

vaughanmc
06-06-07, 07:55 PM
Yeah I'm thinking about a marker, yet again for a quick fix lol

They look ace when lighted up though

SRimon
06-06-07, 11:08 PM

vaughanmc
07-06-07, 04:44 PM

Twin Fog
Twin Reverse
UK Style
Euro Style

Clear side-repeaters coming next :)

Martin

SRimon
09-06-07, 11:34 PM
Euro Style?

i thought they was twin Fog

euro style is just the standard set of lights of a LHD Nova!

vaughanmc
10-06-07, 07:41 PM
Cheers for that -- I don't think I would have known how to word it :)

Hi I was reading through tour thread and I was thinking of putting SR/SRI clocks on my 1.2i and was wondering how you got the rev counter to work on your SR/SRI clocks, as the 1.2i standard clocks don’t have the rev counter, did you have to wire it up or what?? Nova looks nice as well!

Cheers Aaron

Dave.
24-06-07, 11:07 PM
the wires usually om the loom bud.. its th pale green one.. is yours a mk1 or mk2? mk2's are built into the loom.. the mk1s are usually wrapped up behind the sticky tape stuff

Jenks
24-06-07, 11:08 PM
ive got a mk2 so i just plug it in and it should work? cheers

vaughanmc
25-06-07, 08:18 PM
Yeah, plug and play mate :)

Jenks
25-06-07, 11:18 PM

Dave.
29-06-07, 08:53 PM
/\ exactly what i said ste

get her lowered asap.. will look ace then.. and make sure the skirts are grey like mine

as ste said... go gsi mk1.. and ive got a sr mk1 spoiler in my room behind my cupboard if you really want it lol

vaughanmc
30-06-07, 10:22 PM
I'd love a MK1 Spoiler -- If I can't get a hold of one it won't be getting a spoiler at all..

vaughanmc
02-07-07, 12:44 PM
The money has been sent away for the -60mm Springs and Shocks

Got my MK1 SR Spoiler -- Which is nearly ready for paint, original grey

Also got 2 mint indicators and a brand new drivers headlight.

Just need to see at Billing if I can get the sideskirts.

vaughanmc
02-07-07, 12:56 PM
No idea lol

SRimon
02-07-07, 06:54 PM
nooooooooooooooooooo don't mk1 spoiler it, if you do that you'll need mk1 wings and bumpers

vaughanmc
02-07-07, 06:55 PM
Nah the MK1 spoiler is mint on a MK2

SRimon
02-07-07, 06:57 PM
lol, again nooooooooooooooooooooooooo its not!

vaughanmc
02-07-07, 06:58 PM
Trust me lol it will work

Adam
02-07-07, 07:01 PM
I agree with Si.
M1 spoiler suits the lines of a mk1 bumper/grill etc. Not a mk2.

Altho, agreed its a bit different to the norm.

vaughanmc
02-07-07, 07:07 PM
I don't really like the Mk2 spoiler that much -- Its a bit boring..

Just wait till you see the MK1 spoiler on a MK2 :)

vaughanmc
05-07-07, 04:22 PM
Wasn't doing anything else today so I decided to paint my mirrors

They look much better in red but the paint finish is poor:

vaughanmc
31-07-07, 07:30 PM

Adam
31-07-07, 07:35 PM
Nice wheel choice.

vaughanmc
31-07-07, 07:36 PM
Anyone with centre caps that fit these wheels put a wee post up -- I'd like a set

vaughanmc
01-08-07, 01:30 PM
Also got my -60mm G-Max suspension today

Should be fitted in due course!

NovaLad
01-08-07, 01:43 PM
When is due course?

Adam
01-08-07, 02:08 PM
Today? Lol

vaughanmc
01-08-07, 04:07 PM
Nah I doubt it will be today lol -- Maybe the weekend

Not promising anything though

tom_beverley
01-08-07, 04:28 PM
Same as my wheels (so good choice :thumb: ) lol

With the 195/45's on they look much better aswell.

Car looks good, you seem to have a good understanding for a 15 year old doing sensible mods and not putting silly bodykits on. And also for not making pointless posts.

Go to Vauxhall for the centre caps, they might not be too expensive, scrappies are also a good bet.

SRimon
01-08-07, 05:04 PM
mannn suspension takes about 30 mins to fit, get out there now its sunny! well it is here lol

SRimon
01-08-07, 05:04 PM
And wheels wise i prefer the other ones, those wheels mirror polished lips and black centres would look ammasin

Ernie
01-08-07, 08:06 PM
I took an engine out on my own this afternoon in under an hr so shocks and spring would take no time fella.

vaughanmc
01-08-07, 08:11 PM
Just not sure what to do about bolts etc -- Get new ones or use the originals..

Ernie
01-08-07, 08:13 PM
use the original one's fella

vaughanmc
01-08-07, 08:15 PM
Just put some grease on them and make sure there tight?

Ernie
01-08-07, 08:17 PM
thats it fella. you mite need to cable tie the rears back in when they are going back in as they tend to fall out as you are puttiny the rear beam back up.

SRimon
01-08-07, 08:18 PM
Buy a small tube of copper grease, all you'll need, bolts don't generally degrade!

vaughanmc
01-08-07, 08:29 PM
Cheers for the info guys -- Where would I be without you lol

I'll see my dad about some copper-slip tomorrow!

krobinson
01-08-07, 08:39 PM
Yeah mate, if your front suspension is built up with the top mounts already on, then it'll take 40 mins to an hour to change everything over.

Ernie
01-08-07, 08:40 PM
As said before very strait forwards.
Good luck tomorrow.

vaughanmc
04-08-07, 04:15 PM

SRimon
05-08-07, 05:49 PM
aslong as you did all the springs and shocks it should be brill lol... not like toms planning to do lol

Whats so wrong with just springs?

As long as you don't go silly with the drop standard shocks ive found in the past to be fine, not just on novas but on a fair few different cars ive owned...

On a budget needs must!

Adam
05-08-07, 05:52 PM
40mm is "ok" with standard shocks, body will still roll tho.

Any more than 40mm and you'll say goodbye to the rear springs when mr Mot man lifts the car up. lol

Ernie
05-08-07, 10:43 PM
Cable ties work a treet lol

freeman88
05-08-07, 10:46 PM
yh its the slowest version of nova id say

i have a 1.2i why are they slow what bhp do they have?

vaughanmc
05-08-07, 11:19 PM
45bhp mate -- Dont pull steam off sh*t

But quite good for insurance I'd guess

Adam
05-08-07, 11:59 PM
Same power as a 1L.
But a better engine imo.

NovaLad
06-08-07, 03:27 AM
I'm changing my springs to brand new GMAX ones dunno what drop they are.

And changing the rear shocks to spax adjustable ones which i bought off draper but keeping the front shocks standard - or atleast for a while.

Do ya think i will have any probs?

Getting a custom set of clocks from what looks like a MK1 Nova GL

They have been stripped and put into a MK2 clock-housing and the top two dials taken out in place of the lights from a 4-dial dash

These will look mint in I think:

Adam
19-09-07, 09:00 PM
Those are the only cold air vents, quite/very useful in summer.

The gauges look good illuminated, maybe you could build a surround for them from fibreglass or something.

vaughanmc
19-09-07, 09:01 PM
I might tidy them up at a later date - They look OK just now

Might have them all sorted for PV 08 if it makes it...

vaughanmc
26-09-07, 09:24 PM
Going for an MOT this weekend - Hopefully it passes
