View Full Version : Hard Work?
Is it hard work throwing a GSi dash in to a Mk2 1.2? Theres 1 in the car waiting to be fitted, but 1 mate says they're a bitch, and another mate (who's a sprayer) says they arent too bad...
I really do want to put it in.. So it'll match GSi seats etc. But is it going to be a full days job or what?
Cheers.
EDIT: I've got GSi clocks aswell, are they hard work to wire up?
pull steering wheel off
Remove glove box
Remove heater vents, dash cowling, and light switches
Remove clocks
Two bolts either end of dash on the sides - remove
two nuts on underside, right up at the top - remove
slide dash out disconnecting wires where necessary and the heater switch cables
Refit with gsi dash and clocks
So it isn't too bad then?
Is it hard work wiring up the clocks? I'm no auto-electrician lol...
Ta.
Easy peasy. GSi clocks should use the same plug as the Mk2 poverty spec ones so will plug right in, but you'll need to run an additional wire for the rev counter to work.

i've never had to do that on any mk2's even on the most basic spec expression i had...
more than likely have the wire for it in the plug, just look for a green wire on the multi-plug, should be on there, if not, then you will need to run one,
Hm, my merit didn't have any additional wires in the loom there... split up and traced all the wires right back to the bulkhead and didn't find squat!
mk2's its already on the plug
never had one nova without the rev counter wire - about 6/7 nova that is aswell
The green wire is there(already wired in the plug) on almost all novas iirc.

where abouts are they?
One behind the glovebox, the other behind the dials; on the bulkhead.
Ok cheers fellas, think I might attack it today :p
Need to post some pics up aswell... Wish I'd taken some of it coming on the back of the cargo truck :( Oh well :thumb:
Cheers again!
