for the above engine does it hav a limiter and what is an ideal place to be revving too? standard but rebuilt bottom end and t40s,manifold,port/polish lightened flywheel etc. and please dont say to the redline that is already there.

depends how the bottom ends been rebuilt, if its rebuilt with uprated part or standard parts
If your running carbs, and a 1.4sr dizzy setup you wont have a limiter as std.
Just keep it on the nova clocks and it should be fine.

yep, i cant really imagine you gaining much by taking it off the clock??

no but i like to make my own ideal redlines in each gear because i want it all set to peak power in each gear. ermm yea even the standard redlines are wrong for each gear i could imagine, i think manufacturers put them to stop your engine blowing too quickly - therefore doesnt make the manufacturer look like its biult a french engine and they dont put it too low because they want it to seem powerful. look at the honda vtecs they can safely rev to 11,000 but there redlines are much lower

get it RR and see where the power is ;) i know on the standard engine the peak power is about 5600RPM

If the engine makes peak at 5600rpm then theres no point go above that.
Manufacturers set rev limit's at a nice safe limit.
Super high revs dont always mean super high power.
Honda's can rev to v.high revs because they are a completely different design to gm engines.
yeah just cos gsi engines come with the rev limit set a 6800 rpm , it not the highest point of power
my last rolling road showed that my 1.6 8v peaked at 5920 rpm and then dropped like **** of it after that
and as adam said if your fitting carbs then you would have removed the rev limiter , so id go and buy a after market one , as sounds like your engine wont last long without one lol
oh and being picky type r's only have 9k rpm on there clocks
it totally depends on the IGN system that was used... if its still the original 1.6 setup then tis std limiter is there (and running pants advance)
if its the 1.4 then no limiter.
technically you have the same power in every gear. its the torque that varies as the gearbox is a torque multiplier....

yes but if they could rev to 11 then that would still be safe apparently according to hondas design teams,
isee what you all are sayin but the peak power can be higher with certain tuned engines
Peak power will not be higher than 6ish k rpm, unless your running some kind of mad cam.
Most road engines peak around 5500-6500rpm.
My old 272 cammed E16SE made its peak power at 5300rpm, by 6000rpm it was only producing 65bhp.

Sorry dude, my integra type r has 10k RPM on the clocks! But only revs to 9k rpm!
And London-chris, hondas VTECs cannot rev to 11k as std, they need SERIOUS Work!! Such as a Block Brace and reworked sump (Both parts costing in excess of ?2k each!!!)thats why the rev limit is at 9k!!!!
My DC5 used to rev to 9.3KRpm but that was as far as i was advised to safely go.

honda vtec engines wont rev to 11K end of. without masses of exspensive work as suggested above. divic teg or nsx. None willl rev out 11K without dieing!

Civic EK9 has 10KRpm on the clock!!! lol
