my fuel pump gave up yesterday after all the trouble of fitting the mpi intank one and now after changing it for a different one the car wont start its gettin petrol cos i checked with the little bleeder thingy on the rail and it has spark but it wont kick atall, i took out the plugs and only one was wet so the injectors arent opening, i disconnected the ecu for a while and reconnected it and still the same anyone have any ideas?

there might be fuel getting to the rail, but are the injectors blocked?? messing about with the fuel lines can cause this

Check the wiring to the injectors.

ya i got a different pump thats working and itl fill a 500 ml coke bottle in bout 8 seconds is that enough pressure? the injectors arent opening atall and the wiring to them is fine checked it with multimeter, it seems the petrol is going straight back down the return! its really puzzling!

blocked injectors, thats why its going straight back down the return lol

Do you have the pump properly wired up through the fuel pump relay?
Not using your own switch or anything are you?

is blocked injectors a common occurence? it wernt parked up or anthin, it is wired to the relay and is working properly, are injectors hard to take out?

Adam

The chances of 3/4 injectors are getting blocked at the exact same time are highly slim.

Are you sure the supply and return lines are on the correct unions? The return on the regulator side.

ya the fuel in the one that goes directly to the rail? i have the line going into an external sri pump mounted on the bulkhead wud that create enough pressure? because it has to suck all the way from the tank? where the internal pump was i just put some rubber pipe going into the tank. i think it has to be a pressure problem?

your pumps in the bulkhead?? shouldn't it be pushing the fuel up the line from literally right next to the tank rather than sucking it??

I know blocked injectors are uncommon, but if you've been playing around with the fuel lines alot it could happen

yes the std nova pumps should suck it out of the tank then push it down the length on the car ,

just fit a pump set up properly , either a std mpi external pump under the rear leg or fit a intank mpi one

then let us know the result

Fit a proper intank one.
The pumps dont work right when there 10ft+ away from the tank.

cant find any intank pumps over here atall, all opel astra are spi, gonna try fit the pump back on chasis leg so!! but where will i run the petrol out of? the pipe at the top of the tank? or fit the sri tank bit by the petrol gauge?

It might be a fuel pump relay/wiring problem, as the injectors get 12v from the fuel pump relay...

mayb ur fuel rail is air locked, on the left hand side of it at da front ul c a black cap, screw dat aoff and use a small screwdriver release the air, its similar to a valve in a tyre lol

ya checht the injectors they gettin the right power, and tryed it not air lokt cos stayed there for ages yesterday tryin the valve thingy!! its squirtin out loadsa pressure, but i dont think its enough, gona try find a pressure tester!

fixed the problem, it wernt getting enough fuel pressure, put a calibra external pump on the bulkhead and shes running sweet now cheers for all the help!

It shouldn't be on the bulkhead, it will kill the pump.

alan b
19-02-07, 12:29 AM
why will it kill the pump? because its sucking up the petrol?

Adam
19-02-07, 12:34 AM
Because it should sit near the tank so it pushes the fuel the length of the car, yours will be pulling it the length of the car.
It might be ok tho.. Then again the pump could die tomorrow...

there put at the rear for a reason , if they were designed to go on the bulkhead then vaux would have put them there
