View Full Version : Its running!
Well after seeing the nova thread on Mig I decided it was about time i got on with my SR, it's been sat un touched since I moved it to a lockup about a year ago after it lost all drive, I bought a gearbox for it but have only just got round to fitting it. Still need to put a servo on, hopefully got a GSI one on its way and the drive shafts then it should be moveable. Was so chuffed I got it running though as its not been run for a good year, started pretty much first flick too  :thumb:

Nice bet you cant wait to drive it again??
Nope lol, i only drove it a few ft with that enigne in and then it just lost drive :wtf: so took the box off and left it for a year, finally got the motivation and fitted a box that I know works :thumb: Last engine I had in there was a tuned 1.3 on twin 40s and that was fun to say the least lol

Just had a quick look at the engine spec in your feature, very nice indeed.
Do you know what sort of power/torque it is?
Got printouts when I bougtht the engine, works out about 118bhp at the wheels, can't remember the torque though lol I've decided i'm gonna sell the blue one and go to town with this, get some coilovers, a diff, polybushes etc..
nice one skoob , goood stuff
fair play mate! love that colour!

looks good. if you havent set the carbs up yet id advise you remove the sound proofing from the bulk head, it can catch on fire quite easily if it starts poping flames. id keep an eye on it happend to mine
very nice :) i want a yellow one!!!!!

Yeah I planned on doing that, mainly for the noise inside though lol Will save a bit of weight too :thumb:
Going to get the old drive shaft ends out of the gearbox this evening and put the drive shafts in, should have it on 4 wheels by tonight http://s4.images.proboards.com/smiley.gif Won't be driveable as it needs a servo still, but it'll be mighty close
Looks/sounds good.. i want a tuned 1.3/4 on 40s for mine i think
Lovely nova, one of my favourites! :D
When you say the box lost all dirve, its likely the input shaft/spline pushed the circlip out, see if you can move the
shaft/spline in & out? circlips are only 47p from vx & would of taken 10mins to fit a new one (after taking the box sump off to remove old clip) .
Its changed now though, look forward to seeing more of its progress.:thumb:
Well heres this weekends progress

And got it on 4 wheels again after a year on axel stands :thumb:
Even managed to get it to move too, didn't start it, just turned it over and used the starter motor to move it to check I had drive. Next weekends plans are to adjust the gear linkage as i've not got reverse  and to adjust the clutch, put the bonnet on, get it out of the garage for a good clean and wait for my GSi servo, rear arb and tie rods to arrive :thumb:
