wiring 1.6 8v into 1.4sr

i know its probably bin asked before but i am totally confused on how to do it i have the 1.6 loom but can some one explain it in simple terms as i really am stuck

a 1.6 and 1.4 loom are nearly the same just folow round the wires

The looms are completely different.
1.6 has a engine loom, 1.4sr dont, it has about 3 wires.

You need to wire up-
Red-12v
Black-Ign 12v
Blue/red-Fuel pump(you will need to fit this wire into the car)
Green-Tacho on dash
Blue-Dash temp guage
Brown/white,brown/yellow are usually diagnostics.

ok thanks the car is actually a 1.4 sri i bought as a non runner they have tried wiring it with the 1.4 loom so there is wires everywhere so i dont have a clue where to start

the 1.4sri wiring loom is a bitch to wire into ,

best bet is to leave all the original wires wrapped up in the engine bay and leave ecu plugged in

then run your own 6 wires to the back of the dash and fuse box

you run wires to fuse box ? where bouts does the red wire go is it just to the battery or somewhere else i know i sound thick but wires arnt my strong point if any 1 can pin point the locations of where i join the wires to

The 6/7wires that need connecting will either go to the dash board(tacho,temp,ecu light) or fusebox(ign live, red/blue pump wire etc)

Connect red straight to the batt.

Bad luck about it being a Sri, its about the worse nova to fit a different efi engine in. I'd leave the Sri engine loom in the bay, just unconnected, remove the sri ecu.

so will i have the fuel pump wire in the car then or will i still need to fit it in

what colour is the ecu light wire and where does it attach behind the dash

If its a 1.4sri, just find the blue/red wire behind the dash/in fusebox and join that to the blue/red on the 1.6 loom.

so it could be in the fuse box or behind dash

It will be both.
As the wire runs to the fusebox, then from the fusebox behind the dashboard and down the sill to the rear of the car, to the pump.

You have to join the engine loom wires into the SRI's car loom. Colour for colour.

so for example i cut the wire that goes to fuse box then join engine loom wire to it then join them two back to the fusebox i hope thats rite its doin my head in now

The blue/red wire that runs TO the fusebox will need to be cut from the SRi fuel pump relay and joined to the 1.6 fuel pump relay.

right and then i just cut and match up the other wiresa with the corresponding colours

Black 12v can be joined to the black 12v supplying the sri ignition coil.
Red-Straight to batt

Green can be joined to the green wire on the sri ecu plug.
