Right my Nova has got rust starting to come through on the bottom of the arch lip so i was wonderifng if anyone knew of a decent bodyshop nearby that could cut the entire arch off and reweld the two skins back together. i want a quality job otherwise id take it to my mate and get his hammer on it.
what sort of price should i look for?
I need to know asap as i want to roll my arches next pay day ready for some alloys next month, and then mebbe a 60mm drop :D
Also including doing the front arche lips as well
cheers

Bring it to me and I'll do it.....only joking...I've had enough of bliking arch work for a while :O
I've just been doing my off-side arch, and just got some fine finishing to do ready to paint. It's not hard to do it your self to be honest....get a welding kit, a grinder, plenty of sweat and elbow grease, orbital sander, some filler, wet and dry, primer, paint, a bit more sweat and elbow grease and a few spare rain-less days.....ok, forget that...pay someone to do it :p

Carefully cut the lips right back with an angle grinder so there is only about 2 - 5mm left. Be careful - mind your eyes and dont get too much heat into any one place as you will burn the paint work that you are keeping and make it bubble up. De-burr/grind/sand/wire brush the inner skin inside the arch and lip right up to clean bare metal status and paint with Trustan follow by primer and top coat. Forget about working on the outer skin and doing welding etc esp. if the outer skin is still rust free. Mask it up to avoid damaging the paint whilst you are working on the lip. There is plenty of strength in the body to avoid needing to weld the arches up which will make the job loads easier and cheaper. To stop rust coming back remove the panels in the boot near the rear lights and using an oil can with an extension tube on it, squirt clean oil onto the inside of the arches.
If rust has spread from the lip up into the panel of the outer skin get it done by a professional.

Nick Caro from Region 2 has had his car re-sprayed and probably some rust removal. It might be a little bit further than you want to travel, but give him a mail nickc@njc11.idps.co.uk and he might be able to help you out.

Trying to scare you? lol!
Here's a pic of what I did to mine last week!

Just got the paint to sort now.
BTW, that my first attempt at welding in over 4 years, and I'd only done tiny bits then! Plus, I did that with an Arc welder...not exactly easy, but it got the job done!
My inner arch lip had gone too, hence why there's no inner arch lip visible, so I had to weld around the inside too to join the new outer arch to the inner for strength!
Welding inside the arch up-wards is fun I can tell ya :O
