Had this thought while waiting for the lights to change for about the SIXTH time, If there was a line of say,ten cars and they all pulled away at the same time and speed, surely this would be better than the stop/start/nearly up someones ar*e method:roll: I know this wouldn't work because even F1 starts get it wrong but it makes me wild when people sit with the handbrake on till the car in front has done a 1/4 mile grrrr:mad: rant over.

i know what your saying. if people left when the other car left but at a slower rate them gatherd speed when necessary(2 sec rule) traffic would move faster.

instead people dont give a **** if the car behind them doesnt makes it through the lights or not or has to wait ages to come to a junction/roundabout.

This is general chat not the 18+ section lol
2 sec rule could work but ever 1 would be looking at a marker i.e lamppost or sign and then crash into the car in front.lol

if you did the 2 second rule you would never get through the lights, hence why everyone gets so close to try and squeeze through, traffic lights round here let about 3 cars through

It wouldn't be feasible for all the cars in a queue to set off at exactly the same time - too many variables involved. If it could be done, it would be smoother on the traffic flow, but then when you stop at lights you're (for example) 12 inches from the car in front, if all ten cars in the queue drove that distance apart down the road when the lead car brakes for a corner they'd all smash into the back of each other. So they'd have to set off at EXACTLY the same time, and then very carefully start to give more room to the car infront of them, starting with the rear car and working forward.

It just COULDN'T happen... unless well rehe****d by stunt drivers, or unless robotically controlled cars which were linked together and connected to the traffic lights too.

Reminds me of a couple weeks back in Bridgwater - a girl (without wanting to stereotype, but she was blonde) was sat at a wide spaced crossing with basic green-amber-red traffic lights, in the approach lane to turn right and refusing to cross the white line and turn off until the opposite traffic stopped coming. Problem was by the time the traffic stopped, the lights were going amber and she refused to move forward over the line. Even though the bloke sat next to her was waving his arms about and trying to get her to move forward and indicate when the lights were green.

Sat one car behind her for about 10 minutes - the car in front eventually gave up and veered off to the left to go another way, just before a large gap in the traffic came up and she turned off. If I was right behind her, I'd have gone round her and turned across in front of her lol
