Hi there im new to novas bought a td for the winter (to cold for bike) and its a brilliant car quick for a diesel but the ride is s**t wallows all over the place. So i wanna lower it need some help. I want to put 60mm springs on there for the looks but i dont know if i will need to replace the shocks (on a bit of a budget) does any1 know. or alternatively does any1 know if 40mm or 60mm is better for handling. thanks for the help

60mm will need dampers
40mm will manage on stock dampers

60mm will give best handling

Debatable. A 40mm drop doesn't handle too badly, its more down to how stiff the shocks and springs are. Too low a drop and it will affect the geometry of the wheels, have loads of negative camber and handle like a sack when not gunning round a roundabout.

What tyres are on the TD and are they in good condition? A G-Max kit can be bought off ebay for about the ?100-120 mark, and a spax kit can be had for around the ?200 mark (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SPAX-LOWERING-KIT-VAUXHALL-NOVA-1-0-1-4-9-82-2-93-V7730_W0QQitemZ190079560017QQihZ009QQcategoryZ1040 4QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem)

If this suspension kit is just for a winter hack then don't go spending too much cash. If its handling you want though, ALWAYS uprate the shocks as well as the springs.

A lot of people say -40mm handles better.
Lower doesn't mean better where handlings concerned.
