As far as I know you need the engine, gearbox, engine loom, immobiliser, keys, fuel pump. If you fit the 1.8 you'll need 22 spline driveshafts, cav 1.6 inner CV's and nova GTE outer CV's (the 22 spline type).

well i no he can get hold off the wiring loom, engine, gearbox but cant he use the vectra driveshafts or are they just to big. about the fuel pump wouldnt that all ready be on the engine thou or and i wrong? so he will have to change the ignition over are you saying? o yea one more thing what about the engine mountsdo they all line up or do they have to be changed or what?
cheers craig
Fuel pump is either inside the fuel tank or near the fuel tank.
You will need get a mount conversion kit to fit the 1.8
And will need Gte shafts, 22spline inner 1.6 cav cvs, nova outers.
You can't use the vectra shafts.
As Xeno said you'll also need the immobiliser system and wiring, and the cars ignition key.

right so you would say it is quite a hard conversion then really. so really everything you need is on the car? but the thing u need to buy would be the driveshafts?
cheers craig
Yeah, you need nova gte driveshafts.
And you would have the buy a modified mount kit.
O, and welding the engine bay is recommended.

where would i get the mount from? and get the strenght kit to?
craig
Dont need a strength kiit.
Just the engine bay seems should be stitch welded.
Chris Astley motorsport sells the mount kit, about ?50 iirc.

ok the weldin aint to bad. who is this chris ashley motosport? has he got a website?
craig
lazy mofo. google that!
Personally id fit the 1.6 16V as its not going to need mounts/shafts etc and its only about 10-15bhp less than the 1.8 plus you ahve a weight saving.... still need the pump, loom, keys and immo transponder but its an easier bolt in conversion.
iirc..
1.6 16v (c16xe) can with almost no adjustments
1.8 16v (c18xe) is almost the same as a 2.0 16v swap

Hiya everyone, sorry that i have not been on to inform you about the conversion. He has decided to put the 1.6 16v vectra engine in. Would he still need to use the cav 1.6 inner cv and the gsi outer cv driveshaft? Does he need to customise the engine mounts?
What gearbox comes on the 1.6 16v or could he use the nova gearbox? I think the gearbox is a f13, if so, would he be able to use it?
cheers Craig
1.6 16v will go straight in on std nova engine mounts, and the box will fit std nova shafts.
No mods needed.

well just to make sure it is a K reg nova 5 doors and what would the 0-60 time be becuase aint the f13 gearbox a close ratio.
cheers craig
The 1.6 in a vectra is only 100brake, so probably about 9/10secs for 0-60.

ok then but it is quicker enough really so the f13 gearbox will fix on the vetca engine? what would be the hardest part of the conversion? how do you get th gearbox oil out because i cant find the nut for it?

no serious what could i do to it t get abit quicker
cheers craig
X16xel is exactly 100bhp as std.
To increase the power you need to junk the std inlet trunking/system, that really is the restriction on the engine.
You can fit a "power box" that replaces the top half of the inlet, adds about 15-20bhp, costs ?200/?300.
Or go the whole way and fit throttle body's, not cheap but you'll be on the good side of 150/160bhp...

i am sorry the ecotec will fit but it just looked abit big to me to put in really if you are all good at this stuff so i trust yo alot
cheers
You might have trouble fitting that engine, as it has a longer "wavy" inlet, and i've heard it runs very close to a nova firewall...
I've never seen a X16xel in a nova.
