Does it need an extended alternator tensioner? Looking at the length of the original one i'd say yes.

Anyone got any pics of how they've extended it?

Also, what fanbelt do people use with the old one being too short.

:)

use a calibra 8 v tensioner ,trail an error for belt just take your old one to motor factors ask for another but but a bit shorter

right iv just got a new fan belt from partco (unipart) if you want the part number i'll get it out.

also the tensioner plate thing, apparently you can use a 2.0l 8v one?? but mines been extended, cut in half then a piece welded in the middle, but a beter way would be to cut the 2 ends off, then extend the ends as you'll find where the bolts sits when you tensioned the belt it'll be on the welded part and mines a bit stiff and sketchy lol.

EDIT: product code UGCGVB10875,
that might be the one you want i had one on there and couldnt get it off lol so had to cut it off and get a longer one just now, thats thge belt im using anyway, see what others are using also

Ok dan.
I'll see if anyone is breaking a 8v cally.

I have quite a few tensioners, but there all small block ones and look too short. Maybe i could weld/bolt two together, i only have a arc welder tho.

Lew, cheers for the part number.

not very clear but you get two and weld them togeter thus making it longer.
trial and error, become friends with your local motor factors. it's bigger than the 1.2 but smaller than a gte some people have used the gte ones but i couldn't get it to fit! i also bought new mounting washers, used damper bushings from vaux expensive but much better!

Found two spare levers, and i think just sawing the end off one and bolting them together should work.
Just using a few washers to space the alternator so the belt runs straight.
