View Full Version : ** What chokes, jets etc for T40's on 1.6
hi, what size chokes, jets etc are people running in their twin 40 carbs (on a 1.6 8v engine)?
would they be the same whether the carbs are webers or dellortos?
any help mucho appreciated

Webers and Dellorto's use different "terms" for there jets, tubes etc.
Webers use ones like F11 etc, whereas dellorto are along the lines of 7757.5
Whats the spec of the engine? Std apart from the carbs?
A lot depends on how much power its roughly going to make, and at what revs it will make it.
engine spec will hopefully be AST2 camshaft, ported head, and carbs.
the bottom end will be standard, no lightening, balancing etc as I want to keep costs to an absolute minimum.
the carbs are dellorto 40's (DHLA F) and have been running on a 2.1 pinto engine.
cheers mate
32mm chokes would be fine. and the general rough rule of thumb is 4*the choke = main jet size... so a 130ish main to start.
BUT THERE IS NO REPLACEMENT FOR ACTUALLY GETTING TO A RR TO HAVE IT SETUP RIGHT!!!
thats great mate, exactly what I wanted. just a rough idea to get them running before taking it to a RR!
awesome, thanks again
Going by a table i saw.
1598cc engine would be something along the lines of:-
32mm chokes
130mains
7772.6/7 emulsion tubes
180 air correctors
45/7850.2 idle jets
35/40 pump jets
7848.3 aux venturis
That would probably make it run ok, but as stu said, for top performance a RR session is neccessary.
So jetted for a 2.1 pinto, there probably going to be a far way off what you need.
sorry to jump on, but where was this table? does it cover webers? i also need to get the car drivable to get to the RR
Ash
I saved it off ebay a long while back.
32 chokes;
125 mains;
F16 emulsions;
180 air correctors
45F9 idle;
40 pump
150 needle valve
Or if going for a Dan spec 1600 8v, 34mm chokes and 135 main.
:eek: just seen the price of weber parts!! ?70 for emulsion tubes, ?50 for chokes!
Cheers for the guide anyway.
Ash
Yep.
Which is why its handy to get a set of carbs with the right-ish size jets/chokes you need.
