Just a quicky, which way does the thermostat go in? is it the spring part in the housing or in the head?
Sorry i forgot which way i took it out :thumb:
The spring part points inside the head.
The curvy metal case bit points to the thermostat housing.

ive connected up the thermostat and the housing everything looks all snugg, but when i filled up the expansion tank little bits of water are coming out the the housing. Ive used a new rubber surroundon the thermostat and the bolts wont go any tighter?
any idea's?

no theres no sealant, ive just cheched it and the appears to be a little crack on it because when i squeeze the top hose water shoots out
Check the rubber sealing ring, they need be nice and soft to seal.
I had a leak there once when the ring went hard and perished.
The ring goes on the actual thermostat, i assume you've done that and not just sat it on the outside...?
