^^Outside my shop when i got back.

All in all it was an awesome day. me and one of my mates covered a LOT of miles.
Can't quite get over the 0-80 acceleration. It only does about 95 flat out so stuck to the bendy roads but they're always the most fun whatever you're in.

I'll try get some more detailed pics this week as i've gotta do a bit of work on it before the hillclimb season starts

Those skirts are standard fit to sports aren't they? I don't think I've ever seen one without them. Ash is after a set for his red nova, wonder if they can still be sourced...

Ste L
05-02-07, 01:04 PM

nice, what plans you got for it mate?

cheshiresport
05-02-07, 02:01 PM
Got them from a sticker company on ebay. They came without any cutouts at all, just a flat sticker sheet. I had to cut out the flare in the arches and shape them round the front wings too. I will fing the name of the company later on for you mate

cheshiresport
05-02-07, 02:04 PM
Cheers mickey, loving yours too mate. he plans for mine are to finish off the wiring for the alarm and door pop motors, fire the engine, take it for a long blast as ive realised yesterday it hasnt been on the road since end October 2003. Then hopefully attend some shows this year in it

Cheers SRlew, H15 NVA i will dig out the details later today and il pm you them. They were a bit of a mare to fit really. But only with all the marking up and checking and re checking i had to do before i made a single cut into them. I think i paid ?100 for them though which isnt bad at all. I was going to order a spare set, but im not sure how long stickers last unused, and im obviously in no need of a spare set just yet

Think you can use a dilute mist of washing up liquid to slide decals about before squugeeing them dry.

Sports look really cool everyone. Proper classic status now!

cheshiresport
05-02-07, 04:52 PM
Ahhh i always thought those skirts were irmscher items Rich, you learn something new every day. Long Live my sport currently has a 20XE sat in the bay but ive just ordered a new crank sensor which should be here tomorrow. Then if i can get it 2 come to life im going to rip it back out of the sport, and put the original engine back in. The XE is going into my corsa then.

Ps: When i find the business card for the guy who did the sport stickers i will psot details up on this thread. Sorry for hijacking mickymoose :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

ideal darren -- will i be seeing your Sport at Billing??

cheshiresport
05-02-07, 05:01 PM
If i can get the XE running very soon, i will then pull the engine out and wiring loom, re fit all the standard stuff which should be easy in comparison. Then shouldnlt take hardly anything to finish it off then, so yeah i dont see why i shouldnt make billing this year mate

vaughanmc
05-02-07, 05:02 PM
oooooh that puts a wee smile on my face -- seein' the car should be great :)

cheshiresport
05-02-07, 05:08 PM

cheshiresport
05-02-07, 05:22 PM
Yes Mickey you do need to come to some shows with your car, always nice to see pics of sports on here but even better to see them in the flesh and speak to the owners. Theres lot being restored at the moment. I reckon 2008 could be the year for big sport turn outs at the shows though

stuartp

what is that side skirt? it looks smart what is the spec of the engine?

mickymoose
05-02-07, 08:12 PM
Not sure on the full spec yet mate, i know its had fortunes spent on it though. Definately brand new quaife short shirt box, quaife diff but apart from that i'm still waiting for the paperwork which has all the receipts, i'll update when i get it all

cheshiresport
05-02-07, 08:14 PM
Sounds like a bit of a beast, how long did your mate own it for before you mickymoose?

mickymoose
05-02-07, 08:27 PM
think they've had it about 8-10 years. they've spent stupid money trying to get 100ths of a second like everyone in hillclimbing. that's kinda why i got it cos i was doing it in a WRX and mods were ridiculous. reckon i'll beat my times in the nova now i've driven it so can't wait to get it out there

womble sri
05-02-07, 08:29 PM

Err ami just being pedantic, but why does it not have the colour coded flashes on the bumper (under the headlights) and why is the front towing eye blue??

mickymoose
06-02-07, 04:07 PM
some of the panels have been changed mate cos its for competition use only, thats why there's no stickers in a few places. the towing eye is just insulation tape and only done to get through scruitineering

Adam
06-02-07, 04:09 PM
Err ami just being pedantic, but why does it not have the colour coded flashes on the bumper (under the headlights) and why is the front towing eye blue?? I think the white flashes on the sport grill are just part of the sticker pack...
Shame as they look quite cool imo.

cheshiresport
06-02-07, 04:16 PM
The white on the bumpers was originally stickers but they prone to falling off, most people either paint em in now or leave them off all together

mickymoose
06-02-07, 04:52 PM
ah yeah i see them on that pic of the one with the front splitter. think i'll live without them. any idea what the paint code for them is cheshire? might have to put it in to get the little spots tidied up before they get out of hand

06-02-07, 07:08 PM

Its vauxhall polar white, but typical to vauxhall theres around 11 shades of the colour, just go off the paint code on the vin plate. Bodyshop should be able to match it

mickymoose
06-02-07, 08:03 PM
righto cheers, thought that might be the case, i've got a massive paint stand in the shop but couldn't really determine it off that. i'll leave it to my spray guy then
