What you recon to this:
BRAND NEW and TOTALLY UNRUN VELOS bottom end. Built around an
unground crank, fully lightened and balanced, all new bearings, shot
peened rods, competition bolts, pistons pocketed for big valve head
application, new rings, block skimmed to improve compression. 1396cc,
Includes 1400 oil and water pumps. Nice metallic blue colour..........
Cost ?660 + open to very sensible offers.
What you recon? worth getting?
The only thing i am concerned about is the engine numbers, how would you get around this?
Cheers.
Mark.

Sounds good, but is expensive for the benefits. Should be good for high revving.

I think sounds good, add a nice B+ head, cortney cam, twin 40's and i bet that is one belter engine!
Know anything about the engine number problem tho? Wud it be a case of informing dvla about engine swap, or can i get my numbers stamped in?
cheers, thinkin bout gettin a loan, and sortin engine out once & for all.

See, thats what i thought, but my V5 has no engine nubers on, my car was imported from Ireland wen it was new, so if there were no engine numbers on this new block, could i get my old ones stamped in some how?
Do you recon it would be worth buying, if he still has it, and putting the B+ head, and twin 40's on?
What you recon its worth as it is??
Cheers.

You could buy a gte with dodgy bodywork for that money and just swap the engine etc over. 100bhp straight off.

If you are racing or rallying maybe- if not a lot of money that could be better spent elsewhere like differential, front coilovers, uprated brakes, straight cut gears, power flex bushes etc etc.
At a recent foray to an engineers I had, the general advice was that Nova engines are pretty strong and light as std and that balancing cranks etc etc is really only worthwhile at competition level.
