View Full Version : Custom Rear Lights.
hi all,
i have a pair of standard rear clusters, and a pair of clear rear ctusters, i want to chop and modify both pairs and use the bottom of the clears and the tops off the standard ones.
Any one have any ideas of how i should seperate the lenses, and then fix them back together?
they have to look factory else i wont bother, lol.

I wanted to do this too but gave up and ended up tinting the top half of my clears red using the cheap sh!te you get at halfords etc etc. Came out quite well!
I tried using a heat gun on the O.E. Nova lamps but just melted the lenses. Must have went through about 3 pairs.....

Basically:-
Set of clears, set of std GM.
-Break the std amber indicator etc bottom lense out the GM lights(i used a screwdriver and hammer,Lol) as the GM lense is attached much more securely than aftermarket clears
-Clean up where the lense attached with a file etc to get flat
-Get a hair dryer/heatgun( i put mine in a warm oven,Lol) on the clear lense and heat up the glue holding the bottom lense in
-When the glues soft enough carefully prise out the bottom lense(push from the bulb hole side)
-Clear up the back of the lense so it will sit flat in the Gm light cluster
-Apply a bead of silicone sealer/tigerseal to the gm cluster around the edge where the lense will sit
-Carefully put the lense into position, wait for the silicone/tigerseal to set
Its a lot easier to do it Stan's way tbh,Lol.
