View Full Version : My re-shell (June>July 06) 56k BIG no no!
Way back in early June 2006, i came across this Spin shell, the engine had already been removed for me, along with the entire interior, and a few other bits.
With only 57k on the clock & 3 owners from new, i knew it was coming home with me! Situated less then a mile from my house, i knew it was for me!!
?50 later and work started!
Day i bought it:

First nights work consisted of stripping all the old 1.0 suspension and brakes off, along with the 1.0 tank and lines and any other crap that wasnt needed, and started pulling to bits my K reg SR:

The second night, me and mike (lurchio nova) decided that as theres the least amount of work to be done on the rear end of the car, we'd start from there and work forward

You look scary in the fourth pic lol So what's the plan? What's wrong with the red one? :)
well, i spent a few weeks plating up the bay of the red one, only to find out that both rear chassis legs were fcuked! then a bus rammed the side of it so i though cock it!
it was either repair the red one and get it sprayed white, or buy a white shell and save about ?1k+ worth of bodywork!
So i opted for the cheaper option, just a shame i had to scrap the K reg SR, of which there isnt many around :(
Well, over the next few weeks, the Spin will be having another engine, in the form off 1600cc 8v power :D
p.s. its not me in the fourth pic ;) i was behind the camera :D thats other mike (lurchio nova) hehehheheee
Nice project.
Has it been completely sprayed in the last 2 pics?
How come your changing engine again? Lol

last two pics consisted of me prepping and spraying drivers side wing and both doors ;) then a nice mopping session, also done by me! hehehee dont get me wrong like, theres still a fair few dents and minor scratches from the prevoius owner, as ive got no intention of getting it sprayed, its a stealthy nova, badged as a Merit! ;)
well, the electrics, or lack of, on the SR are fudged, an im also bored of carb power tbh, so injection is the way forward :thumb:
