i know it has probably been asked before but cant find any information about this.

I have a 1400 spi nova at the moment and i want to convert it to a 1600 gsi/gte engine. There are a few reasons for this but anyway i would like to know what i need to change etc. Can i use the spi fuel tank/lines? if i drop the engine in what wires need changed etc? I presume the alternator/starter loom will be the standard 1400 loom? any information/help will be much appreciated as i need to do this conversion before the 24th of February.lol

i have just had a good thought! I have a 2.0 8v sitting doing nothing so i might shove that in as i will struggle to find a 1600 gsi engine cheap and near me. What do i need to change on the spi to convert it to a 2.0 except the radiator and engine mounts? what else do i need to do?

what gearbox you want to use on the 2.0 8v? btw, i know guys with a 20SEH in a 1.2 nova, with the 1.2 radiator..

are you using the 2.0 gearbox? (f16 or f20)

this might just be a bad idea putting the 2.0 in. the reason i was asking this is because the autotests that i compete in are split up into differnt classes.
CLass 1-unmodified with front engine, front wheel drive upto 1400cc
Class 2-unmodified with front engine, front wheel drive over 1400cc.

I am in class 1 just now at there is soo much competition which is good but i would like to be in class 2 as there is only 4 people in that class. My other junior friends!lol

At the last autotest i was fastest junior and won the juniors by 1 second and 15th in class but all the people beat me in class 2 as they were scoring more points as me.

I think there is a rule against having over a 1600cc for juniors so i might just have to struggle on and have just have fun with the 1400. Will mean losing the junior championship but lot less hasstle.

SPI tank and lines should be ok, you'll need an mpi pump though.

x14xe in your nova? cams and a good manifold/exhaust/filter combo is faster than a standard gsi engine
