Fibre Glass Panels

hi all a good friend of mine as got intouch with a fibre glass company for me through his buisness and he will soon be doing fibre glass doors,bonnets, wings etc. Basically any body panel for a nova mk1 or 2. I can provide him my panels for them to take a mould for mk2 novas but he will need your mk1 wings etc to take a mould. they will be realy good quality, minimum of 5 orders though per item ie pair of doors, bonnet etc etc he can also do the bonnet with vents if wanted but yet again minimum of 5 orders POST UP IF INTERESTED i will find out the prices asap just need to no who will be interested first.

the doors are full doors, reinforced they will be around 2kg per door,standard doors weigh around 20-25kg each they will use all the same points for the locks and hinges as the standard gm doors and be realy good quality ?600 the pair, i would need 5 orders minimum for them to be made otherwise its not worth the company doing it.

will these doors be similar to the carbonfibre ones that colin smith used to sell - motorsport ones ie no inner frame? he was selling these for ?400 pair good quality but more for the rally cars etc

Phil these would have a inner frame but its up to you if you wanted to cut them out.

also the wings are ?300 pair for mk1 or 2

if you bought the doors and wings together they would be ?800 so you would save ?100 yet again minimum of 5 orders required

ive been watching this thread closely, but have to agree with chris there, with what is available you wouldnt be far off getting a job lot for that money. We all know the bonnets and boots from eurorallye are fine etc

Going by the corsa prices (note they are abit more expensive than nova items) the same items your mate is offering for a bonnet/boot/2xdoors they would be ?690. Now allow for a possible discount for a job lot and your mate has out priced himself as that package would go alot further and leave people a minimum of 110 notes to blow on something else.

The quality may be excellent, cant comment on that, but for a quick buck made and a decent order list, price wise he has to re-evaluate how he wants this to go, as people on here will snap up deals, tell others etc etc

Sorry but you can buy a tailgate and bonnet for that, and theyre much more complex than a single skin wing, and a lot bigger.

Id pay 100 for a set of wings tops! You need to tell your pal if he wants to sell this stuff, he needs to have a reality check or no ones going to part with cash.

yeah that seems very expensive for wings. But I guess they cost what they cost.
Way out of my league tho, ?200 would be better spent on chassis or engine.

I think your mate should look at the market and research instead of thinking people will pay a certain price

also the doors, what weight would they be able to hold?? can they comfortably hold glass?? and go through daily openings and closings without breaking?? as i've heard about someone trying it previously and these being "issues"

i said glass, because if it can cater for glass, it'd manage polycarbonate easy lol

Hi guys (and gals) i've just been pointed to this thread by my friend Graham who started it. I appologise for not making a hello thread in the newbie section but i just wanted to clear a few points up.

I oppologise to the moderators if this post is not acceptable, because at the end of the day im not a trader on here, so please delete if needed.

My name is Andy and im the guy thats doing these pannels, i run my own Automotive Bodyshop and i use a specialist moulding company for all my fiberglass/carbon fiber/kevlar moulds.
The quality of these items are made to the highest standard and i can vouch for that as i have seen them and have them on my skyline. Also they have recently done a carbon fiber dash for a magazine owned car.

Basically im doing parts for cars that are hard to get or you cant get at all. So im either putting vents in pannels or just getting moulds of straight omp pannels.
I have read all the posts and yes some of you are right, as im not sure what the market is like with the nova as i specialise in japanese cars and am currently setting up group buys with - skyline, Evo, Gto etc so roughly know the pricing with these cars.

The moulding company are charging me ?350 for the mould for the doors + ?200 per door afterwards and ?200 for the wing moulds + ?90 per wing afterwards. So i would need to sell 7 sets of doors to cover the mould cost and 10 sets of wings to cover that mould cost. I know im not going to get that with one group buy and i will loose money, but i will have the mould to keep using for the future and will know from this what interest these parts get.

So to summarize, the doors will be ?450 for the pair and the wings ?200 for the pair in fiberglass and a minimum of 5 orders are needed in each.
