cambelt problems

i've just changed my head gasket and i'm just in the middle of putting the cambelt back on! the camshaft pully markers are alligned correctly but the crankshaft pulley is out by about 1cm and it wont turn anymore!!! how do i get it so that its inline?

wat ever u do dont force things round turn the cam 1/4 out get the cranck into postion then put the cam into postion. wat is happening the piston is touching the valves so it wont turn. always remember when you have put the cam belt on turn the engine by hand to check that the valves don't touch

what do you mean turn the engine by hand?

turn the crankshaft 360 degrees and make sure it doesnt touch????

ive just tried to do this but the crankshaft still wont turn even with the camshaft turned a 1/4 out???? any more advice
