i have a weber 32/34 (or whatever the hell they are!!) fitted to my 1.4 sr engine, and occassionally loose power

yesterday it was so bad it would idle, then the minute you gave it a bit of gas it would stall, then it wouldn't fire

then all of a sudden fired up and ran fine. then occassionally loose power and it feels like its holding back then shoots off with a load of power

i do have a bolt on k&n fitted as well

a mate thinks it could be the fuel in the carb freezing and blocking jets, and if so is there any way this can be stopped?

i have seen a potion that said it helps prevent carb icing, does it work?

thanks

si

either your fuel pump is knackered, fuel lines/jets blocked, air leak or carb icing! does it do it when the engine is warm? mine did this a while back due to a knackered fuel pump! :thumb:

brand new fuel pump, jets checked every three or four days, fuel lines ok, new fuel filter

tbh, i think its worse when its coldish weather, and mainly when its a cold engine

does anyone know of an air box that is available for this car?

its carb icing then, you will notice it more when the engine is cold and when using the choke, when the engine is warm this should disappear.

i don't have a choke

the lad who fitted it didn't put one one!

is there any methods of preventing it, because it cut out the other day with it doing it and took 15 minutes to get it going again!!!!

weber carbs really need a choke, but the original sr's had an automatic one so you have to make one yourself! i have a choke on mine but i know people that dont and their cars struggle abit in the morning due to fuel starvation,

Did it cut out when the engine was warm or cold?

Has it been setup for your engine?

the standard 1.3/1.4 carb air filter housing should bolt straight on, if the carb has the adapter on the top.

i have had a look at the air box on a 1.4 and can honestly say i don't think they would match

it was running crap when we got it, so my dad had a tinker n sorted it

you'll proably need it setting up as the mixture will probably be out.
