tidy mk1 SR 1400 1990, half an engine at the moment but still in debate on what conversion to do so soon to be a sleeper in a sense

nah cant be 3.3kv, there is no 3rd rail and also no OHL catenary either. most trains run at 650 to 750 vDC through a 3rd or fourth rail or 25kVAC through overhead lines....
lol
sorry i work in the rail industry!
i also have thousands of pics of sleepers

yes im sad lol

I'd like to say something really macho like "thats the last thing other drivers see before I'm gone". But in reality they are watching that rear end for quite a while. I have plans to get either a warm 1.4 or a 1.6 t40 (depending on how much loan I can save) set up in this 5 door,i'll still run it on steelies (15 inch ones) and keep it looking standard as.

Not the best sleeper but quite stealthy. Also in its latest incarnation its going back to two wipers and i've got rid of the bonnet vents.

nice turbo there lee, as you say its not the sleepiest looking but its definately unpredictable and i guess provides a few shocks with the local XRpoos

Lee, your car looks amazing, always been one of my fave's that's why mine look 95% like yours :D vents don't spoil it at all, single wiper looks good just get it pointing to one side instead of straight up ;)
Actually, the only thing i'd change is wing repeaters; smoked instead the clear/white they stand out so much on a black car :s
Headlight washers would also look quite classy on your car ;)

Cheers, comments much appreciated. Its being resprayed at the moment and the vents have gone now as has the single wiper so bit late to change my mind now but think i've made the right choice. Thats quite an old picture, had the smoked Astra mk4 repeaters on it last time it was on the road.

imo stripped out, subttle wheels, lowered standard bodywork isnt sleeper, i axpect a nova to be fast if they look like that. its if they've had the money spent on looks/bodywork and fancy wheels...so on...then your not gunna think its runnng 150+bhp, therefore making bright lairy novas real sleepers.

what you need is something that is falling apart, and the doors open above 40mph then it gets funny

Thats only cuz you see them everyday on here and other sites.
Its not about surprising nova enthusiaists, its the 99% of other drivers that dont expect a merit badged, unkitted nova to leave there clio 172/CTR 4 car lenghs behind in a few seconds.

not only are they the best suprise for people who spend loads of cash on powerful cars but also the billains dont seem to pull you over so much compared to having a huge bodykit,a set of spinning chromes and a ripspeed exhaust trim

just out of curiousity do the lads here with sleepers get pulled much in england? and do the coppers ever lift the bonnet? ridiculous over here, guard sees an induction kit and says that you have an illegal turbo device!! its hilarious!

i never go tpulled once in the 1 in my avator, that wasnt outrageously kitted but did have smooth boot, novadose rear, tinted windows, and metalflake paint that shone blue, red, green, white lol

and being my first XE i did tend to drive like a tw@t !!

I got pulled twice, once for driving like a ****, once for driving like slightly less of a ****, neither copped queiried the engine, l one did mention he noticed some modifications (wheels, cav shifter, no interior etc) and asked if they were delcared, which i replied yes and thats as far as it went. I think being slightly older helps tho.

Here`s mine, was a pretty good sleeper i think, bought it as it stands in thepics but added the 1.2 badges to upset sh1troens lol, and as previouly said i tended to drive it like quite i tit really as it was my first one, but decide wasnt mature enough to have it so i got rid in the end :-(
