yep its hidden away somewhere. ah can you spot it :) ill make it easy ill take the engine out for you to see. :) best way to do it. no cutting or messing.
Handy to if your using the engine mount kit which has the 3 mounting holes for wither let or xe. the spare hole makes do for the alternator support.
woot!

When people seem to go for the welding option, they go for hugeboxes, its so much more simple that that, it only needs a few cuts and a tiny infill strip one end.

The problem is tracking down what the alternator is off as Martin Hill who did the front mount alternators orginally would'nt tell anyone what they were off. I know that the pulley needs changing as the alternator come with a wide belt pulley. I used to run this setup but ditched it now as i need the room for intercooler pipes and stuff. When Karls car comes back over from germany we'll take the alternator to get it checked out.

Shouldnt really make much difference, as its a custom fit any alternator should do, Pulleys can be replaced, spaced and adjusted to suit. If you have the skill/noggin to make custom set up like that youl be inventive enough to make any fit, and if ur sensible ul make it a cheap and powerfull one.
My alternator was from a late XE with non adjustable bracket and multirib pulley, i had 3-4 'nators in the garage and used a few random parts from all of them till i got the pulley tucked is as much as pos.
In fact if ur running uprated mounts u can get away with not making any adjustments to the leg. I slotted the reat gearbox mount bolt holes, add a few washers and ended up with a 4mm gap you can see here.

However i didnt have uprated mounts so under load it would run, but after a year of heavy use it had only done this much damage
