are 8v and 16v bottom ends the same on the 1.4s and 1.6s

ie can u put a 1.4 16v head straight on a 1.4 8v bottom end and same with 1.6

no as the 8v bottom end dosent have the same holes etc for the cam idlers...
plus the 16v pistons are different (valve cutouts)

16v pistons are lighter and stronger.

the rally lads use the 16v bottom end and 8v top round my end. but i dont think a 16v would go on an 8v unless you put a thick head gasket on so the valves dont touch but then there prob. wont be enough compression.
