The hosting company is upgrading it's servers this week. I've got a few sites hosted with them on a couple of different servers, and know someone else who hosts with them too - our sites all went down for a short time yesterday, while i didn't notice any Novaload downtime at all.

So, no complaints that the site is unavailable etc please - the hosting company is performing a mahoosive upgrade of a large number of servers and will do it as quickly as they can with minimal impact.

Downtime is only likely to be up to an hour, if that.

if yesterday is anything to go on it'll be offline for a few minutes here and there. It's not that much of a hassle really.

I was put out a bit as I was trying to work on a website i've been designing for someone, hosted with the same company (i always use them) and the ftp kept going down while i was tweaking things.

where would you like me to put this thread - its a general notice for all members who may wonder why the site is going up and down all day. General chat is the first place most people check.

Yep... temp contract will be expiring on Friday 2nd Feb... mainly because I refused to sign a fixed term contract on their books rather than my agency. Consequently they "say" they no longer need me but the reality is there's another 6 months work at least.

there's no point them keeping you if you dont want to work there, they're paying a premium to the agency. You should have signed up with them for increased pay, then left in a few months and gone back to the agency.

They offered me an extra ?600 a year before tax which I found insulting. lol

I decided I'd much rather retain my flexibility than sign up with them.

It's acutally been quite good working here.. my post count has gone from 400 in July to 4000 now :D
