View Full Version : no sound from stereo
My car came with no radio in and half of the bullet connections were split apart, so after tracing all the wires and re crimping them toghether I thought I had it ready to go.
The stereo switches on but there is no sound, I have tried 2 different stereos.
I think maybe its a problem with the 6x9's in the back, is it possible to test wether they work or not? Would using a buzzer to buzz between the two connections be enough to tell me if they work?

The easiest way of doing it is to Solder a wire onto either end of an AA battery And buzz the 2 wires together that you think are the speaker wires, if they are connected okay the speaker will pop.
I buzzed out some wires tonight with an old multimeter. Im getting a short between the earth and the wire for memory storage. Also I found some wires inside the passenger door that arent factry but cant find where they go to =s.
IF i was to buy a cheap stereo and some new speakers which were covered by halfrauds free fitting service would they have to get it all working for me as part of the contract?

Yeah its easy to work out if you have a multimeter
Id just run new cables yourself.
Run new cables for all the speakers, and then just find all the power feeds from the mess under the dash, or run new ones from the fuse box, piggy backing off a constant feed, such as the clock / hazards and switch feed from the heaters for example.
At least you know the wiring will be reliable.
