Hi all

I need some new tie bars on my nova, the nearside one sheared :cry: ... Are there any tie bars that are a bit more beefy, to take the extra torque and power from the engine.

By the way it's a C20xe conversion.

There is a lug that sticks out of the bottom of the casting on the gearbox that needs grinding off when fitting the XE and F20. Are you sure this has been done and the engine wasn't resting on the tie bar as I can't see any other way you could snap a tie bar to be honest?

GTE GSi tie bars are slightly thicker than the std ones.

as above, and diesel tie bars are thicker too :)

agreed the gte/gsi ones are thicker, but you must have been tanking to break one

Yep, they were either flawed or like mentioned, the gearbox was resting on it.

Never seen it happen on 300bhp LETS, let alone XE's.

Piccy of the lug to cut off. You can do it on the car. Just use a hacksaw and finish it off with a file.

Some GTE Tie bars look the fav at the mo.... going to check to see if the lug is still on, it will be coming off
