is there a special tool required or something as i have no idea how to get them off?
You can get a special tool.
But a sawn off bonnet stay works too.
You just hit them out.
Top ones down, bottom ones up iirc.
you get a door pin remover you can get them from autoquip for around ?15 i think. the pins on a nova are hollow you basically screw this pin in between and give it a whack make sure you got someone to hold the door whilst doing it. its easy with the right tool

is there any way to do it with out this tool, i dont have any spare bonnet stays either?
If you're replacing the doors and yours are getting thrown away...
I used a big bolt from B&Q, bent the top of the door down and use the extra room for smacking it down with a hammer. I also smacked the bottom pin down in to the door as it was easier for hammering room.
just take your car to a body shop there not gonna charge you much for taking the pins out

Soak pins with easing oil before hand to help get them out.
Buy the proper tool, it will be the best ?10 or ?15 you will spend and will probably save you having to spend more on repairing the damage caused by not using the correct tool!
hinge pin removal tool - theyre high tensile so wont get fecked when you use them - just make sure you get the right one.

use a screw turn it up side down and knock the pins out with that and yes mate you can re use the pins . try a little bit of heat if they are stuck in
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh why dont u listen just get the tool fool! if your that skint ill send u the right pin remover for it once ive digged it otta the garage i havent got the handle no more but is sooooooooo easy to make it. pm me if you want it, you will have to send me a self addressd envelope!!!!
i found this to be a bit of a bitch, but i didnt have the correct tool for the job. in the end my dad got his cutter out and chopped them off, they were nakered anyway.
i was advised to put new pins in though, i got them from vauxhall and they cost pence, so you may as well do it properly.
i have since removed the doors again, and did it properly, with a device i found in the garage and they came off no problems at all, just be careful waving a hammer around.

I used the correct tool and it was a fcukin nightmare tbh!
I also bent the punch part of the tool from striking it with a hammer
In the end I chopped the end off an old screwdriver and made my own punch, oh and I cut a section from the doors top and bottom to enable better access, reused the pins also.
What a JOKE of a design IMO! lol
