I have just sourced a new bottom end its had a hard life and is in need of a rebuild as the shells are fecked. it is actually a C14se and has been bored out a mechanic said that when these are bored there is more clearance from the water jacket? any one heard this? its got oversized pistons to match ect but my mate thought it would be harder to get bits for as it had been bored?

Im just gonna take it up the local engineers and ask him to rebuild and work it a bit. first step in my new project really taken ages to get off its feet :)

So its originally a 1398cc bottom end? And now its 1650?
I wasn't aware you could bore a 1400 bottom end that much, i thought about 1495cc was the max.

well it has 14 in the code and measurments would suggest it is 1650 it was in a gsi wannabe that wasnt running well it had bigger injectors which is what i suggested was the problem the head gasket was shot ect im gonna take it too my local engineering place to have it checked over. didnt glenn bore his 1400 to 1650? and jim kelly's was although im not sure if he started with the original sr block or sourced a 1600. i just thought as it was bored out it would save me an arm and a leg in engineering work even if it needs rehoning

like burgo all small blocks are nigh on the same so all a 1600 is, is a 1.2 bored out.
