Thats what I've got, but not Halfords. From the local tool shop, and considerably cheaper! Already been put to good use on the Nova :D

Yup. Just had a look, they're made by Sealey.

Dunno how good they're supposed to be, but they were strong enough to have me almost standing on the long ratchet trying to undo one of the wheel bolts that Rexy had welded on the saloon lol

Ste L
25-01-07, 10:58 PM
i take it, that it wasn't then lol....

heard nothing but good stuff about the pro's, lot of people said just as good as snap-on's, even people in the trade too lol

its the cheapo halfrauds set's you gotta worry about, black plastic ratchet handles etc etc

Dave.

these are dynamic spanners, dont know if theyre good or bad, are they good?

Halfords Pro and Snap On are made in the same factory on more or less identical jigs.

There is another "brand" that comes out of the same factory as well but I can't remember it at the min.

EDIT; Took too long posting and Jack beat me to my memory it's Sealey.

Looks quite a nice toolbox there.

I could do with some form of tool storage, instead of finding 13mm sockets stuck inbetween paving slabs on my drive etc lol

i could do with some new tools, i dont have any 13mm sockets left anymore lol

I replaced my tool box with a halfords 2 draw doobery with a top opening tray thing ?29.99

I even went to the extreme of cleaning every single socket and spanner I've accumilated over the years..... good if your stressed out.

I have got a Tengtools big toolbox, i have 3 drawers empty as i dont have enough tools to fill it.lol

My dad always gives me tools as he is forever getting new tools. I hav just got a Britool socket set/rachet, some other socket set with a lifetime garantee, snap on spanners/rachet spanners, snap on screwdrivers and a draper torque bit set. I use my tools all the time and never had a problem with them.

Halfords sets are the best about,

Cheapish and gaurantee, so stand on them smack them with hammers, and if they break, go get new ones!

Just as good as snap on, because of the gaurantee, but 1/4 of the price!

I bought that tool set few years back, just managed to refill it with various toold, but not because they broke, because i lost them in garden, cars, driveways, garage etc etc. lol

and Blue Point! they are the other Snap-On brand, oh and Harley Davidson :thumb:
eBay bargains on occasion can be acquired with those two names :)

Dave, I wouldn't stress those tools, particuarly the ratchet handles! - any money the drive breaks in them lol

Seriously though mate, good on ya for having tools at your age :D

IMO you can't go wrong with Snap-On, Blue Point, Sealey/Seigen, Halfauds Pro - (the ratchet spanners in particular rock) needed if you want do tension a PAS pum on an SR20 whilst in the 'bay still - and there's a couple others but their names escape me lol

You are better off buying a 2nd hand / broken Snap-On ratchet handle for 30 quid or so and you can always exchange it with the 'Snap-On man' for a brand new one if it is fcuked :)

when i worked at Liquid ICE the Snap-on man would come round every wendesday.... that would be were all my wages went then lol. My mate who work full time there has probably spent a good ?3-4k on Snap-on tools (including roller-bearing 6 draw wheelie chest - at about ?1100 )

I keep buying Dad Halfords professional tools for him birthday and xmas so he can rebuild his car, shame mines in the way and im lacking the tools i've bought him lol

I have a giant socket shaped clock sat on my desk at work... thanks to my brother. He has an account with snap-on and gets fantastic discounts. Consequently he always manages to get free gifts... although he did spend ?30 on a multi-led torch that can be seen for X amount of miles... also has a laser pointer in the middle.

Stuart

that ?75 set is a good base, esp the box it all came in as they arent cheap to buy on their own. and as you break/lose bit syou can progressively buy better bits to replace them...

I am one for good quality tools but i wont spend a fortune unless i have to. If you buy some no brander for a couple of quid and it does the job, score, if it breaks, live and learn then buy a good one lol.

have to say i purchased a 1/4" set from halfords for reomving ecu's at work and it was a "pro" set but the quality is awfull!!!! so in future id only buy what i can actually take out and look at first lol.

lol i really rate halfords pro tools, i tried to snap a 19mm spanner and cant do it no matter what i try , where my snap on one lasted about 3 days lol

as for your new tool box dave , the halfords near me were selling them before xmas for ?15 each so i got 3 and sold 2, the sockets are good but dont use the ratchets unless you want to loose the skin from your knuckles lol , i killed all 3 of them trying to undo a suspension bolt on my corsa lol
