i think its the thermostat. its where the top hose from the rad goes to the block! the metal thingy is leeking. is this common for 1.4 sr's?
also am i right in thinking its the themostat?

yep there only a few quid simple to replace aswell,either that or the pipe as split.the thermostat sits inside the 'metal housing' and seals it.
Its the thermostat housing, yeah the thermostat is inside it.
Its usually the seal on the thermostat goes hard and brittle so coolant seeps past it.

excellent, what work is needed to fix this? just take the cam belt cover off or can i leave it on?
if i go to my local motor factors i should ask for a thermostat right?
You have to take cambelt, cambelt rear cover, alternator belt off.
And will need top up the coolant level.

yep they should have 1 in stock no more than 5-6quid i think,if i remember you have to remove belt cover.i didnt remove cambelt thow.
