Driving to work this morning i noticed the car wasn't accelerating as well as usual...
It was as though the engine was still cold and was a bit rough.
Half way down the M1 on my way there it was doing 65mph Flat out. It's only a 1.2 Merit but i mean come on... this aint normal.
By the time i drove home it was nackered... Managed to get 90 going downhill on M1 but on the flat and uphill it's just terrible.
Gear down at 45-50 and it makes no difference to acceleration. Nothing happens... just more noise.
It's a new air filter, about 1000 miles on it so I dont think its that...
Thing is it's so sudden.
PLEASE HELP ME... I AM STUFFED WITHOUT MY CAR.
Can't afford it going to a garage till next Wednesday and I dont think it's going to last that long at this rate.

My Old Nova and current one have both suffered exactly this at times......what was the weather like?
I'm asking, 'cos mine only did it in wet weather....ignition leads getting wet/damp seamed to be the prob, but if it wasn't wet, I don't what to suggest?
If it was a cold damp morning, it also be the carb freezing, but I wouldn't have though this would be a prob in July....but then again!

put new plugs/leads/cap/rotor arm on the beast, or if its a carb give that a clean
does it sound a bit different? like missing a beat when ticking over,
sounds a bit like its not firing properly.
prob wrong but worth a bash!

Was thinking last night on way home from work... Driving down M1 no tunes on just listening to the car and feeling what it was doing... Really concentrating. It does seem as though it's not firing right... THere are also some huge vibrations from it then all of a sudden... VROOOOM. With foot to floor doing crappy 60 it suddenly leaps to life and almost throws me into the back of the van in front.
IT WAS A WET DAY... VERY WET.
This morning i drove to work at it was bad again... but got better half way to work...
Seems like a combination of the plugs need replacing and the leads getting damp...
Anyone agree or am i mad?

My old 1.2 used to do this in the wet, I had to drop the clutch and rev the bollox of it whilst going along and then it would go alright again for a little while. I think it is just a problem when it is raining!!
Nice car, what's the retail on that?
More than you can afford buddy....Ferrari!
smoke him!

dont know if it'll work on all firewalls.
most new ones are wise to this method of getting around it.
it was made a good 2 maybe 3 years ago though so hey.... if your firewall is that old... it'll work.
worth a shot...

naaaa... Not clutch.
Thought of that at first.
Clutch seems fine. Gear changes smooth as ever. Feels more like either a fuel blockage of some sort or dodgy firing on plugs...
Will change plugs see if it helps.

On my current nova (when it still had the 1.2 engine), it sometimes got so bad that I had to stop....well, I didn't have the choice....it would stop it's self :O
I remember a few times, it was so bad, that it slowed to 25mph on the M1! I had to pull over, and I tried revving it, but it just coughed and spluttered and refused to rev, then would totally die. I then couldn't start it for about 10 to 15 mins. After leaving it a bit though, it would start and run fine, but after so long, it'd do it again!
In the end,it totally died an a warm sunny day...it started with the same symptoms as normal...slowing down, sudden loss of power, changing down a gear having no effect, then it went BANG :O
It turned out to have been a major ignition fault, that was intermittent.....in the end, it'd caused the head gasket to blow between two cylinders, and burnt a hole through one of the pistons.....hum....nice smoke form the zorst!
It also overheated pretty quickly, blowing out a main water core plug, in the block!
Anyway, I don't want to worry you or anything ;) Just get it sorted before it gets worse, like I should have done!
Ni mind though...gave me a perfect excuse to fit the SR engine :D
