The p in p38 etc stands for particles per a given area I think. So the higher the p the finer the material and the smoother it will be when finished. This applies to sanding and wet/dry paper as well - u need at least P1200 to get a reasonably shiny finsh
As I remember for fibre glassing you need to make a perfect mock up of what you are trying to make first out of something easily worked like wood or styrofoam. If you havere- existing panel you can use that. I think you need to spread barrier cream or similar to stop the resin and glass fib sticking first. You then make a mould out of fibre glass over the top of it. When this is dry it should then provide the perfect reverse image of whatever you want to make. Cant remember all the details as the last time I did it we made a canoe at school. Theres a bit in this months Fast car I think. You can just use it to reinforce areas out of sight by sticking it over the area with resin.
You need specialist advice- try kit car people or yellow pages for any body working in fibreglass - boat builders etc. Same for the materials - yellow pages under car paint sprayers?
