hi ...just got rid of my 2.0 8valve nova ...miss it like mad ....and now im trying to get prices for a rear engine rwd /conversion for one...

basicaly i was going to buy a new car ...but im getting a company car ...so im actually going to spunk the new car budget all on a nova lol ..i must be nuts ...
dono if the rear engine/rwd idea is gonna happen but if i get a good price ill go for it!

any of you guys on here know of anyone that would take on big work like the conversion ...or know of any rough prces ...a motorsport engineer already turned me down so i may have to settle for a normal conversion
ps ...im in Northern Ireland lol but if it was worth my while i would transport a nova to the mainland

cheers Ryan

yeh it wouldnt be my style ...im more into suttle styling ...for me a gte/gsi kit (depending on mk1/2)and some nice rims and on the floor will do ..if it goes well ..it will be a sleeper

firstly you need to decide how to get the power to the wheels, kev turbo did his with the engine still in the front and the other guy (novaboyopr) simply put the engine in the back

you really need to be at a motorsport engineering place tbh. I know of someone who could do it put he would use a spaceframe chassis with integral roll cage and probably a busa engine.

i know a guy whos goimng along the lines of space-framing, he used to make space framed mk2 escorts with YB engines but now hes a vauxhall man

ill not be doing any of it myself ...i want to take it to a motorsport engineer ...wouldnt have an average mechanic near it ...one guy that does all the rally prep over here ..says hes done one but wouldnt bother again ...

but that is bodged. He wants one that will be good, handle well and be quick. Not one that can do donuts in McDonalds.

its not a bodge. that was the only night it has ever been out, and it was only done to show people what it could do.

what? no reply?

Just like there was no reply to the other thread??

I suggest you think about what you are typing in future and start trying to convince people to pay for a ?2k conversion done on a driveway.

yeh i really want something that is going to last...if any of you have seen the cover for french cars ...thats what i want ...except a nova ad not a 1700 turbo R5 lol

if your going to a "motorsport engineer" then they "should" have an idea of how to do it properly.... if not then id run away fast lol.

Im guessing if your going to pay for it to be done your surely looking atht eh fatter end of ?10K..... thats a lot to spend on a car that ultimately wont be that fast/well handling (for the money) lol, but hey its your cash ;)

yeh if the money doesnt balance out that well then it wont happen...the backup plan is a race prepped redtop in the usual place and the usual wheels

oh sorry im not on th computer everyday to reply. it wont happen again. sorry!!!! think what you want least i can be botherd to try new things without spending loads, so what if its done on a driveway? your proplem is....

I cant really understand what you were trying to say at the end of that post.

My problem is that..

You have built a 'one-off', which fairplay to you for doing so. It has not being tested yet. Has a dodgy MOT and you are trying to sell it and sell conversions like it for in excess of ?2k.

Oh and the forum was showing you online last night when I posted that.

well sorry for not checking the post then! it has been tested, it dosnt have a dodgy mot it was a normal garage. im selling the car due to wanting to start making a 2nd rwd nova with a let and i dont want to rip apart the first one i ever did so i would rather sell it and let other people have fun out of it.
im selling the conversions as you have to start somewhere and i trust my work fully.

Chris

it doesnt have a dodgy mot?

Yes you recommend a hydro handbrake in the other thread and add that your doesnt have a handbrake and you just leave it in gear.

Not sure if your does or not but I am pretty sure that there must be a firewall between an engine and driver/passengers.

You also state that it has been tested, yet it has only been out once, ****ing McDonalds car park at the crooze innit doing doughnuts. FFS that isnt tested that is chavved.

I honestly cant see the point in it. You have put a lot of hours in to make it what it is now but havn't used it for what it should be built for. If you really want to do doughnuts in McDonalds would it not be easier to just put some trays under the rear wheels? But you want to build one with a LET? Why not just keep the original and fit a dump valve simulator as a LET wont benefit your 'cool' factor very much at da crooze.
