Whats the deal with them? theres two versions i belive

E16 and C16. Which if any are:

a) better (power/reliabilty)
b) easier to source
c) easiest to get parts for when they break

A) C16 is a better imo. More powerful, no Afm etc.
B) E16se usually, but people forget c16se's also come in mk3astras, which are v.common in scrappys.
C)Neither, there both easy to maintain and repair, and share many gaskets(inlet,exhaust gaskets etc etc are the same)

ok so a C16SE (iirc??) is in your opinion better yeah?

The AFM, ive heard that if faulty cause a few problems, so i take it the C16 has no AFM what so ever?

Do they both share the same loom?

Yeah C16se is better imo, newer etc.
They have a DISpak so no rotor arm and dizzy cap to keep replacing etc.

The looms are completely different.
But if you get one from a mk3 astra the engine loom unplugs.
So its easy to fit into another car.

C16 has a MAP(manifold absolute pressure) sensor to sense engine load/incoming air, whereas e16 has afm.

So i could just drill a hole and weld a bolt into my sportex manifold for that then, then again, will an SR manifold fit a 1.6??

Yeah you can do.
My SR 4branch has a lambda boss put in it.

Sr manifold does fit, as long as you keep with the Sr system.

Altho depending on the year of the car you may have problems come MOT times for having no cat.

my MOT will be fine ;) as the bloke i use, he uses his laptop to retard the fuelling/revs that much so it'll pass, then re-set it and let me on my way :D

Yeah my manifold has no Lamba hole, so ill sort that out, and ill be keeping my Ashley SR system anyway.

Top man, all the info i need tbh, i was gonna go XE route, but ive got ?180 of front brakes that will now be re-dundant and there brand new and my suspension too, aswell as pissing about with big blocks and higher insurance.

So the plan iS 1.6 on throttle bodies or maybe possibly if funds allow, a 1.6 Turbo, but then i will change the brakes lol

hmmm, yeah i though that TB's would work better on a baby valver.

And i know that the info on a 1.6T is there aswell. So might do that, way off yet tho, like 12months away yet lol
