View Full Version : Which oil for an SPi?
As above really lol, prob a very silly question, but if going to finally change the oil in me car as ive had it a few months now and ive not bothered so far:( so i think i better had as it looks like treacle lol, but what should i be filling it with id guess about 3.5-4 ltrs of 10w 40 would this be right?
Pls help ppl thankyou!!:thumb:
Which engine is it? 1.2 - 1.4 iirc require 3 litres and 1.6 use 3.5 litres of oil. 10w40 is fine, I use semi synthetic, but more out of neccessity as my mechanic sells me it for 2 quid a litre! When your at the motor factors, ask for a new sump plug washer, it should be about 20p (or may come in a pack with a Vaux/VW 19mm sump plug for about ?1.50-?2). Remember to warm the car thoroughly (preferably drive it) before removing sump plug!
Aha thankingyou very much, its a 12oo, i know it soundsa a bit silly but thats what the tech section is for aint it lol, never thought of gettin sump plug washer before tho how daft am i lol!!

Spud, 10/40 should be fine, just get a 5 litre jobbie so you've got some for topping up.
Remember change the filter too(i assume your planning on doing that anyway)
Cheers mike, err kinda didnt end up doing it as i took her into work (on my day off too) and valeted her instead oops lol, gonna do it after work at my mates garage 2moro night now, he said i can use the oil from there as they got massive drums full of it hehe mint, aye got filter first so ill jus go to vaux at dinner for a sump plug washer, cheers ppls!!:thumb:
essentially ANY oil is fine for gm engines lol.
i used allsorts on my nova when i had it. ranging from some 0w30 (ran out of the engine as the seals werent good enough) to 15W50 (ran uber quiet but was a little slower due to pumping losses)
currently running fully synth 10W60 in the vx as i got it cheap.
