with 195/50 or 195/45 or 185/55 the tyres will not rub.

With Cav sized tyres they will. Not too bad though. I had mine dropped 60mm at the rear & the 205/55 cav GSi tyres still drove OK but it would catch on the insides. The outers may be close but my arch lips are folded.

so 185/55 is best as they are cheaper

they only have summer tyres

I use summer tires all year round:confused: ,do you think the weather is going to get that bad?lol ,not many companys make m/s tires under 50 profile, would make the car horrible to drive!

If you want winter tyres for use in snow and ice, best bet is to get some thin 13" (or 14" if you have big brakes) steelies and whack some winter tyres on those, use them as a spare set for icy conditions - as using winter tyres in warm/dry conditions can be just as bad as using summer tyres in ice/snow!

Chap I know from a tyre dealer reckons its deadly using summer tyres this time of year.

Apparently at the tread temps can be as low as minus 10 dgrees on a fine day. Summer tyres just arent designed to operate or grip in these conditions esp when the road surface is wet, the temps can go even lower due to the wind chill at the tread.

Proper winter tyres from the likes of Michelin will give amazing grip in wintry conditions comparable with summer tyres in perfect conditions. Makes sense really.
