birth certifcate

how do i, if i can go about obtaining someone elses birth certificate ?? reason i ask is a frien from abroad needs a copy of his but doesnt want to come back to england for it ??

any help appreciated fellas/gals/unsures

Does your friend know the location of his certificate? I think the best thing would be to contact his wife/girlfriend/parents who may have it in his/their house. I doubt you can obtain one on his behalf, otherwise anyone could in theory get one 'for a mate'!

i dont think youll be able to get one unless your family tbh due to the data protection act

He should contact the British High commision or embassy or consulate in the country that he is in. Tell them he has misplaced it, & they should help

I know that it certainly was possible to obtain somone elses birth certificate, but I bet that the rules have changed.
