exactly what i was going to say. Its the first thing i advise people do when they want to spend some money on making there 2lt faster. Money spent on the engine is wasted unless you have these sorted first.

ditch the coilovers (if they are spax/avo/koni/gaz etc), sell for maybe ?300. That leaves ?1300.

ATB diff - ?500(ish)
H&R coilovers - ?750 (ish)
or Bilstein Cups for ?500 (ish) and ?250 towards so semi slicks.

get 288mm or 308mm front brakes, astra gsi rear beam for a rear disk conversion or the rear disk conversion kit off lmf, a rear ARB and a better front ARB too

bakes are the most important thing on a car... even if it has no engine it can still move and you need some way of stopping it... or maybe you could get a parashute to pop out the back to slow you down instead? that'd be quite funny to see :)

rear discs on a nova are a complete waste of time imho.
youve not got a rwd drivetrain to slow down, the car isnt heavy enough to justify them

true but when you start going into silly ammounts of power you need as much stopping power as possible... also, golfs, Saxos, 106 and 205 GTi's had rear disks on the back as standard and they also look much cooler then drums!

As stated improve handling, plenty of power as standard.

If it's just straight-line power he wants (like most of us nova XE owners lol) then:

Fully Service the engine & check compression & oil pump, if all is well, then:

Uprated Exhaust Manifold (?50 2nd hand - ?300 new)
Straight through exhaust system with pipework no more than 2 1/4" - ?300
Mantzel/MTech Powercap - ?100
Courtenay GpN Chip - ?200ish?

power cap and chip will gain you nearly nothing.

nos is not cheating best way to get power at near low cost. you can call it any other mod you do to your engine eg a chip or exhaust.

I'd have the QED bodies that are for sale on here & MIG for ?1200

buy a cheap calibra/cav turbo and stick the engine etc in the nova, then sell your old running gear and all the bits off the calibra ya dont want and it will fund the slip diff, job sorted

chip and powercap. lol

Powercaps reduce power dont they and chips do f all!

Think its funny when someones posts up 170bhp or something with "filter, chip, exhaust and powercap".

Yeh I was going to suggeust ATB or something then I thought about the Throttle Bodies for salem, theyre a steal!

Plus V6 front brakes, approx 100-150

So thats like 1300 or so

he has standard 2ltr brakes, thats good enough, dont mean to sound bitchy but we not dumb about cars was asking the best way to spend money on what to get, thats why i ask bout engine,so far to replys that are actually use-full the rest is no good, thats why i posted,MODDS TO ENGINE!

cheers:thumb:

Its no about gettin power out of the engine tho, u need to get it down..

You could have a 1000bhp supercharged v8 but if all it does is wheel spins out of control.. whats the point?

You need Decent Sus,Brakes and a way of gettin the power down i.e semi slicks & a Diff

What coilovers is ya mate running? are they as good as you say coz they lower the car so much? or because you think it handles well?

Just get a diff, better brakes and sus then save for tbs or sumin...

Also in theory if you can stop/slow the car faster its going to be quicker around the trolley bays in tesco's car park init

chris-gsi

because it handles well fella, nice and stiff, he was thinking of getting the diff to reduce spin, but thats basically all his money gone that will be nxt on the list though.

+1 for QED TBs

They might look cooler, but 205's go all over the shop under heavy breaking! lol

Me too, the onlt advantage they give is better cooling and maybe slightly lighter, so unless you have a track weapon where these two are a priority, its a complete waste of time!
