They tend to run where they want according to the angles of the crank, cam and water pump shafts and the peculiarities of their sprockets. There's not a lot that can be done really apart from swapping your sprockets for different ones. Check however that it isn't the water pump or the cam belt tensioner bearings on the way out first.

make it laugh, everyone knows you can't whistle while your laughing !

"I have reservations at Dorcia!"

"Saturday ?"

"Can't"

"I have to return some video tapes"

Disassemble as tho' changing the cambelt. Remove the cam sprocket and all of the plastic back plate. Re assemble all pulleys and sprockets associated with cam belt. Get an engineers straight edge (they're about 1m long) and lay it across the top and bottom sprocket. This should help to show if the pulleys are seriously outa aligment. The water pump and tensioner bearing can be checked by testing for excessive free play or excessive rumbling noises. Check Haynes for those.

dont explain belt moving from as close to engine as possible, me putting it there, then start car and belt settles in another position?? away from where i set it? thats confusing me!

sorry i like to ask dumb annoying questions :D

It moves back to one place after you have moved it because for some reason the pulleys aren't running square to each other. Imagine 2 cotton reels each with pencils or summink running thru the middle of them to act as shafts with an elastic band stretched between them. If the shafts and the reels are exactly aligned and parallel the band will run in the same place when they are rotated. However if one shaft is not parallel to the other then the band will run to one side along the path of least resistance.
