does any1 no the year for the car when u hav to have a catalyc converter on ur car to pass the mot? :confused: :confused:

1st August 1992 - i.e. K reg and onwards.

Physically you don't require to have a cat present, but K-reg and later cars will need it to pass the more stringent emissions test, the BET (basic emissions test). So the idea of keeping the cat there and gutting the innards won't work.

[edit] Incidentally, the BET goes on which is the older - car or engine. A 1990 engine in a 1995 car does not require a cat; and a 1995 engine in a 1990 car does not require a cat.
