i have recently bought a E reg 1300 SR. When i bought it the plan was to put the 1300 engine in my mk2 j reg nova but after stripping the SR down to find only small hole on the rear towing eye that can be fixed easily and a hole about the size of a 20p coin on the sill. It also needs a tiny plate welded round the light panel. It has been welded in the boot before and had a rear quarter panel and 2 new sills. It has also a got a palet welded on the inner wing beside the alternator. It had nova sport side skirts on it which i took off as i didnt like them. It has been lowered 60m+ all round with G-Max gas "supersport" struts. Apart from that is standard. The plan is to strip it down to a near bare shell and re-spray it and weld where necessary. I will be keeping it standard apart from a 4 branch manifold and a ashley nova sport exhaust. I will be putting a set of twin 40's or a twin choke weber carb. The engine will be getting all cleaned up nice and shiny and a good service. I have small problems with it such as none of the lights work on the passenger rear apart from the indicator, hazard lights, interior lights and the carb needs set up. pics coming soon.

mmmmmm, i am very tempted to paint it yellow with the grey/black bumper and along the bottom of the doors and the wrap around spoiler. What do you think? i am wanting something a bit different so i think yellow?

yes i think she is going yellow with the vinyl along the bottom and the vinyl along the top of the tailgate! think its a good choice. i am going to have it standard sr looking with the 3 spoke sr wheels.

i actually dont think its that bad a shell. after i washed it and stripped it down and put it on the ramps i was shocked at how solid it was. There is not one bit of rust on the doors/arches/rear panel/front panel/crossmember. It has had 2 new sills and a rear quarter panel. I had alot of people round looking at it and they said that is a good find and that its not going to take much to weld. Once the bodywork is all sorted and i re-plate the corners in the boot and re-spray i think it will be a nice wee nova.

i have been told the side skirts are from an early nova sport. Dont know if it is true??

i have quite alot of small problems with this sr and would like some help/advice. Some of the rear lights not working (not bulbs as i have changed them)and the hazard lights doesnt work?any suggestions? Also do i need side repeaters on a 1989 nova sr as there is none in the car when i got them. Where do the wires come from to give power ect to the side repeaters? i might make wires and just put some in.Does the interior light and the rear window wiper washer have to work for the mot? the wiper works but the washer doesnt. Also what kind of power would i expect out of a re-built 1300 sr engine with a weber twin choke carb/K&N filter, 4 branch manifold and a ashley nova sport exhaust? What will the top speed be ect? What is some other good mods thtat would make it a bit faster. I have been told the 1300 sr novas are fast anyway. i am interested to know as i wont find out til i am 17!lol. Thanks in advance

Lights sound like a relay or fuse, mk1 i think you do need side repeters as you can't see the front ones from the side like on a mk2, if you wanted to wire some up take a feed of the fronts. MOT doesn't need interor light, unsure on rear wiper, i think if one is fitted it has to work, so just take it off if you want. Also my washer has never worked as the hose keeps splitting on the boot hinge. Engine power, 85-90+bhp i recon, top speed will depend on the gearbox. Plans sound good, i do like yellow/black mk1's.

PM'd btw

i am gutted! this project is now over and done with. I have found out that it is not as sound as what i thought it was. The rear chassis legs are hanging off and they are not fixable. I really wanted a mk1 yellow and black but its back to plan A. SR Engine and box into my j reg mk2 nova. cheers for all the help and comments.

Just bolt the mk1 wings, bumpers, lights and grill onto the mk2, then you have the imo better mk2 interior, Spray it yellow and black and stick a private plate on and know one will know lol

Ash

PS, I really want those side skirts, second in-line please

i have been busy tonight stripping this down to a bare shell and all thats left in it is the engine on 3 mounts just ready to be lifted out. The dash and the gauges are still in it as i cant get the dash out. Can someone please help me!!! I have taken the 2 screws from each side of the dash out, the glove box, the nut inside the glove box bit. Any advice??

Also i was mucking about with the carb and i found a bit that works like a rachet and when you push it it clicks and moves a gold cloured flap. Once you put the throttle on it clicks that other gold flap off. I am just wondering what it is?? At a guess i would say it was a choke? Again any help will be much appreciated. Thanks
