not workin???

hi people,, i have got a mk1 1.2 merit and i took out the the tape player(not standard) and the is just and electric connectors and ive tryed connecting them up with the colours but did not work and then looked the my renualt and then figured it out but i can eject the cd/mini disk and put it on but will not light up? does anybody have any ideas??

renault colours are different to vauxhall !! i cant remeber the correct colours of the top of my head but ill prob be fitting a stereo into my nova later today so ill make a note of the colours for you

When I removed the stereo from my MK1, all I had was the power (red), earth (black and some wires fro the original (now binned) speakers.

I had to connect both the ignition and 12v wires (yellow and red) from the stereo to the cars 12v. The black wire from the stereo connects straight to the cars earth. I'm not sure if this helps mate? As you can see, I have chopped the stereos wiring harness as there is very little room in a mk1 dash for a wiring harness and an adapter harness.

If you can ejct and insert but not switch it on then you are missing an ignition live.
