I have the same thing, sounds like there si no oil in the engine?
I have been told many diff things, like,
summink in the sump, floating round & blocking the oil pick up pipe at high revs,
shagged tappets,
Fuel pump going mad at high revs & killing the cam,
Weak oil pump, not getting oil to the top of the engine at high revs.
Well, thats the list so far, i just hope its summink simple, not like a oil pump change, arse.
hth.

sounds like its doing what mine is doing, if so then its coming from the front end of the exhaust, its just rattling at high revs. If you rev slowly up to about 5k its really bad right ?

I got a tinny rattle coming from the engine @ 3000 revs up....turns out one of the brackets on my exhaust manifold cover had rusted away so it was rattling at high revs. ;)

Without actually hearing it none of you can be accurate.
There was a post a while ago by Oxygen saying he had a knocking noise on acceleration. Everyone came to the conclusion that it must have been an engine mount, and he settled with this and didnt worry too much. He has since found out that his front cross member has corroded right through where the tie bar joins. This is a potentially fatal problem. If that had of snapped whilst he was doing 70mph it would send the car wildly out of control.
The moral of this story is to take your car to an expert to check these noises out coz thats the only way to tell.

True, however, I think he was jsut getting our opinions / advice not asking us to make a diagnostic of the problem for him to decide on, if you have a problem with your car you get it checked out, its not rocket science.

Yep, I agree. Didnt want to sound harsh.
With something like an engine noise its best to list all the possibilities and let them check it out, but there are so many. Also peoples descriptions are different. One persons rattle might be another persons knocking etc etc etc..

Lol @ Keith.
Best way with any noise is to start by working out roughly where its commin from and what's happening at the same time. Try revving at rest or going along etc. That way you can eliminate various obvious things and then start to home in. Listen down a bit of hose pipe or summink to various bits - u can hear a lot more detail. Rattles tend to be lightish stuff vibrating such as something external thats come loose.
