Unfortunatley - Yes !!!
Brett wanted a reliable engine - so only had the throttle bodies !
Maybe Matt will unleash more power from the engine
hmm not wishing to open "that" can of worms but Chris T's spec is approx 210bhp with lairy cams, a heavily modded head and similar rest of specetc.......
maybe knocking off the power claims might keep peoples minds more realistic lol

well at the moment its got the basic sbd taper throttle kit which gives 210bhp but ive been looking at the first sbd upgrade which is 218 bhp but unfortunately will cost another 800 quid to take it to this level and imo is a little steep just for a extra 8 bhp

Matt, possible but very unlikely that you have anywhere near 210.
Sorry mate.
Take a look at Chris T's spec, then you will see what I mean. To break the 200 mark you need at least cams/piston work.

well you lot are all banging on about the qed throttles and yes wen you use them you do need cams etc to see 210 bhp but with the sbd kit you have 210 straight away without cams headwork etc, unless sbd (the people who are experts in vauxhall tuning) have there figures wrong and the dyno brett put it on was also wrong??

I can vouch for the TP208 kit. Mine runs 150bhp at the wheels on a completly standard engine. Its not even mapped properly & has a standard exhaust manifold. If you get a proper exhuast system and a decent map you are looking at around the 200bhp at the fly (roughly). SBD have it spot on. Although the kit is supposed to produce 208 bhp it has been independently dyno'ed at over 200bhp (204 IIRC) which to be fair is close enough for me.
As much as I don't want to say anything bad about the QED throttle bodies(Unless BT says anything bad about my GTI-6 again). The tapered throttle bodies supplyed by SBD have been proven to produce better results.
Check out andy hills astra on the sbd feature car page. i knew andy when he had the 208 kit fitted to an otherwise standard xe in a mk2 astra. After half a day on the rollers this made 197 at the fly iirc.
An ways, matts car, still awesome!

If I remember correctly - When Brett had the nova he had it rolling roaded at K&N Filters rolling road place at Warrington (Invite only place I think - Rob had his Nova turbo Spider done there !!!)

The TP164 and 184 kit's figures for the 1.6 16v are extremely optimistic and are essentially the same kits for a smaller engine.
I just cant see it myself. Let me drive it and I will let you know.....

IMO the SBD figures may be a bit off due to the quality of fuels nowadays compared to back when the kits were developed.
Thers a page on the SBD site detailing issues with fuels & headgaskets failing. Think they have to wind the timing back a bit to keep the engines sweet which does lose a few horses.
My cars faster than yours! Big deal!
