HI all - my first post. :)
1. the car cuts out while trying to warm up (i guess because of the cold weather) trouble is it can take 20min+ to warm up enough to drive..
2. i changed the water pump 2months ago, and since then the temp gauge never rises past a quarter..
Any sugestions welcome!
p.s my car knowledge isnt great but will answer any questions i can.
shagged thermostat. ?5 and easy to change

is that to solve both problems or just the gauge?

thanks! i'll give it a go.
any1 else think of why this is happening?
What engine is it?
The stat is not so easy to change on some engines.

i know that it was changed from a 1L to a 1.2L before i bought it but there isnt a label or anyfin on it. i guess its a standard 1.2L vauxhall engine

last night i started the car waited 2mins and had no problems but i guess that was because it wasnt very cold last night..
but 20mins+ to warm up on a cold day still means sumfin isnt right dosnt it?
another fing i noticed is that if i drive off wivout letting it warm up it runs horrible and almost stalls everytime i change gear.
injection or carb? Is the radiator fan running constantly, not running at all or running intermittently when the car is stationary, you can check this by leaving it at idle with the bonnet up. It should just cut in occasionally, keeping the water tempertature low.
