HI EVERY1 I HAVE JUST JOIN NOVALOAD.NET
IM 14 AND I HAVE THE SHELL AND A 1.2 ENGINE,I HAVE GOT A WORKSHOP AND I AM IN NEED OF PARTS AS I ONLY GET A LITTLE BIT OF POCKET MONEY AND I REALLY WONT TO RESTORE THIS 1.2SR
SO IF ANY1 HAS ANYTHING/PARTS THEY CAN GIVE ME FREE IT WOULD BE A GREAT HELP:)

when you say bare shell - how bare are we talking?

EG do you have the dash, doors, glass etc or is it totally stripped!

Are you trying to put a 1.2 engine in an SR shell?

you need to be more specific about what parts you need. TBH I dont think you'll get many freebies - you may get a few but many nova owners hold on to good parts simply because some are a biatch to get hold of.

TBH... wait, save some cash, and get a 1.3 engine back in there (assuming it originally had a 1.3). When you eventually turn 17 and go to insure it, you'll probably have to pay more for the 1.2 engine than the 1.3 as its a non-standard replacement.

As you're 14 I'm guessing theres no rush to get it completed as you've got a 3 year wait til you can legally drive it!

is the engine the 16v 1.2 engine mate i had the 16v 1.2 engine in mine really quick so i am guessing yours is too:)

its still gonna rust even when you bolt the engine in

while its a bare shell you'd be better off grinding out all the rot/rust and cleaning it all, then waxoyl and sealing the whole thing

and as RJ said, it'll be easier in the long run to re-fit the same engine as originally in it

If its starting to rust, get on that first - rub down, cut out any excessive rust, treat the areas with kurust and repaint. Moving it around won't stop the rust, it'll probably make it worse.

Free tailgate, standard, very good condition, assuming that I buy Drapers one on Sat.

Free front and rear SR bumpers-MK2

Free windscreen

Free F10 gearbox

Free rally seat, needs a good clean

This is a genuine offer, I think it's a good thing that a young lad is attempting to do what most of you lot mocking him, have probably never done!

at 14 things will change, the nova will go/rot/be sold and this will be all forgoten about.

As said. Fix the rust, stop it from getting worse and prevent it from spreading by waxoyling and treating everything.

As for the engine - find a Haynes manual for the car it came from, strip it down and put it back together :D

lol yeah thats been covered - its an SR shell and he's sourced an engine for it. I'm assuming its from a Corsa/Agila and not a std Nova engine, being 16v and all. Always wondered how easy it'd be to fit one of those in a Nova... be interesting to see how he gets on with it.

I still maintain he'd be better off selling the 16v engine for a fistful of dollar and using those proceeds to buy the rest of the stuff the SR shell needs.

Is the 1.2 16v block the same as the 1.4 16v & 1.6 16v blocks? If so, i would imagine it'd be about as hard as installing one of those, which have been done many times.
