Ever since i changed the inlet manifold ive been having coolant problems!

Basically every day or two i have to top up the header tank as its loosing

water! Ive checked all the pipes and clips and there all nice and tight and

arn't leaking. Also theres no puddles under the car so this proves theres

no leak! There is also no air locks as ive squeezed the pipes for ages and

got all the air out! However when i start engine there are small air bubbles

that are rising in the header tank. I ve Got a small air leak on the inlet

manifold near the coolant gallery could air be getting into the coolant system

this way, causing my coolant loss? Any help needed cheers :thumb:

If its not leaking then it must be entering the cylinders and exiting the exhaust.
But changing an inlet wouldn't cause that...
Unless it leaking on the inside of the coolant gallery on the inlet and entering the air/fuel runners, then into the engine....

and would this cause whiter emmisions? As they are whiter since the inlet

has been changed!

Yup.
White smoke/condensation=water getting evaporated due to entering the cylinders...

to over come this would i just take off the inlet again clean it up then put it back on?

It depends why its leaking coolant tho.

Perhaps its got a crack somewhere inside the coolant gallery(which you can't see from the outside of the inlet.

sorry i meant to say im gonna take it off as its a 1.4 inlet and out the 1.3 inlet on when it arrives. So the ports are the same then aswell

Nope.
1.4 are square ports.
1.3 are cathedral.

You'll loose power fitting a 1.3 inlet as the ports wont match.

its a 1.2 engine with a 1.2 head and a 1.4 inlet at the moment. So putting a 1.3 inlet on will be better wont it?

so have you changed the inlet or not as in your first post you say your prob started when you changed the inlet then you say your goin to change it lol

and yes if its a 1.2 head then a 1.3 inlet will go on and it should run so **** wth a 1.4 one

Adam

Ahh right.
I thought it was a 1.4 engine.

Yeah a 1.3 inlet will be better if its a carb'd 1.2 engine.

yeah i changed it to a 1.4 so i could put my weber on and now im changing it to a 1.3 inlet so it runs better!

right well that your prob , you will be loosing water and power due to the ports being no-where near lol

fit the 1.3 inlet and your carb and youll be sorted
